I think that UL has the ability financially and competitively to suck it up and lead the conference as it always has. Especially if it made the conference better by adding NMSU.

I don't think UL has ever whined like babies, like many of the current SBC "members" do now at the thought of traveling. Must be something about being serious about being FBS that keeps a school and its fans from being scared to slightly increase their travel budget?

Hell we didn't even hear nearly the crying when we were members of the Big West back in the day, compared to the complaining heard from some "members" of the current SBC.

The big negative is playing the Eastern teams that no Cajun fans really care to watch play in Lafayette.

We will see how it goes but App was basically promised a travel partner so I figure the next add should be in the east

We're the ones on an island with no travel partner. I don't want or hear whining from Cajun country about their travel.

Either JMU or we wait.

JMU passed on their chances and the train has moved on. Liberty is now ahead of them!

Then we'll wait.

We moved on!

No we didnt. Benson wanted to move on to Liberty, but no one would vote for them. If JMU called the SBC tomorrow and said they want in, they'd be in.

That being said, JMU has to do something by June 30, 2016, or risk needing legislative approval to move up.

I think most thought 12-15 months ago that JMU would be the 12th football team. Unfortunately someone forgot to tell their administration. The majority of their fans I think would support joining the Belt.

That being said I still have seen nothing that shows me their admin has changed their anti-Belt view.

I don't know that has been decided or even discussed.

It could be stAte, it could be ULM, or it could be teh Cajuns.

Hell, the way Benson operates, it could be Idaho going to the East.

Someone needs to call the Cajuns bluff and see if they will volunteer to move east when NMSU comes up since they are the ones pushing them so hard.

I'm sure they would quickly back down and go on a rant somehow blaming Benson. Just make sure you throw logic out the door and replace it with hot pepper fueled emotion!

Rabble, rabble, NMSU,rabble rabble, damn Benson, rabble rabble, get us out of this conference, rabble rabble, fire Scott Farmer, rabble rabble.

I am just wondering if the Belt will do anything until it is known if CUSA is booting out UAB and if that is so will CUSA add a school to replace them to go back to 14 or just stay at 13.

Ya, I can't see making any decision until the dust settles this year.
Maybe draw up every conceivable contingency in a closed session and be ready for a telecon vote in mid June.

BTW, a calendar of conference meeting dates would be useful here.
But I can't seem to find them online.

CUSA is June 6?
SunBelt is May, but we don't have a date?
What about all other conferences?

App being promised a travel partner doesn't make much sense. The idea of a travel partner is a much greater benefit to every other school in the conference not called App. If you said the other 11 schools were promised a travel partner for App then I think you're barking up the right tree.

Now that sounds more like how things get handled in the SBC!

Stop whining about your travel cost! Your administration knew there was no travel partner coming in to the SBC App State, take it up with Benson. You want something then compromise and lets get it done, this isn't the SOCON!

One compromise would be to drop Idaho, add NMST as a full member and James Madison in the East. You have a travel partner at that point, problem solved.

What really is funny, Georgia Southern should be kissing Farmers backside because he pushed to get them in at the last minute. The same with App. State, they should be kissing Ark. State's backside for doing the same.

App and GS were the best options available sorry if we don't bend the knee. Both sides benefitted from the last round of additions.

Best options or not, you should know that is was Scott Farmer at UL and Terry Mohajir at AState that helped push through both Ga Southern and App State.
