Uh excuse my ignorance here, but exactly is a walkoff double? I see the term used all the time and do not have a clue what it means.

^It means a hit that scored the winning run. They literally walked off the field after he hit it.

I'm not usually one to call for coaches heads but I'm starting to get antsy with Coach Curtis. In his time here, since the 2008 season, he has double digit wins against top 25. But only one tournament championship and one regular season championship. His overall record is 226-212 now. IF this season continues on this trajectory, he'll have as many losing seasons as he does winning. He's only had one outstanding year, the 2012 NCAA team that won 39 games. Otherwise, there's a lot of last-year-like seasons where we underperform and get to 33-26. With the facility upgrades, it's time to see some results.

He won the game on a double, walked off the field with a game winning hit before 27 outs.

If I remember what I read right, some guy use the phrase in 1999 and it stuck. It replaced game winning hit. Not a favorite term of mine, but I'm old.

I swear, I must be getting really really forgetful because in all the baseball stories I read last year, I do not recall the term being used. Today, it seems like every story has a walk-off this or a walk-off that. I was beginning to think it was one of those deals where a word suddenly becomes vogue......gravitas comes to mind.01-lauramac2

Arkansas State probably officially petitioned the conference to move our series to Tuesday and Wednesday after that result.

We've been pretty decent overall during midweek, but awful on the weekends...and the weekend is what counts.

Nice to see Eric Carter getting some extended work and the bats getting things done. Even though it was against a crappy SWAC team.

Hopefully we can sweep the average SWAC team that is coming into town this weekend.

I agree. now that we have facilities as good as anyone else and the school has committed to put some money into sports programs I think the long history of not placing a lot of emphasis on wins and losses is at uta is coming to an end.

Two things, I meant Coach Thomas, not Coach Curtis, who Thomas replaced in 2008.

Second, UTA did place emphasis on wins, just usually in conference. The baseball is in the NCAA and the way we have invested in facilities, there is no reason we can't do both.

The irony being that if they tried to win in non-conference they could. UTA already has an overall winning record and as my signature below shows, have beaten more teams overall than they haven't. Had they put more emphasis on it, then imagine where'd we be.

Baseball team got off to a delayed start for Troy today. We didnt get back from SIU till midnight last night, so by US Law we had to wait at least 8 or 9 hours before our bus driver could get back on the road again.
