Woah I was one of those GS students. I was just poking fun at The grandeur of it all but I love Statesboro and everyone in it. I don't know of any GS fan that doesn't like Statesboro. It's the perfect college town

RE: You know you're in a small town when...
Worked in a small town for a couple years. There were two places that were always crowded. The Local Subway, the only restaurant in town at Noon, and the local liquor store at 5pm every Friday.

We had one traffic light...it was on a hideous timer that would take 3-4 minutes to change. I got 35 minutes for lunch. I would make sure I took that break about 10 minutes before everyone else and mapped every single back route to the Subway. If I tried the stop light and mis-timed it, or if I left even 5 minutes later than normal, there would be no hope for getting lunch for the day, and I would have to eat when I got off at 3:15.

Needless to say, I became a regular at that Subway.

My subway knows me by name and starts making it as I walk in the door.

I took to buying Girl Scout Cookies from my students instead of buying those at Subway. Far cheaper in the end.

??

I wasn't being disrespectful, Sorry if you took it so. I happen to like small towns, It is just funny to me that people get excited over the little things. That's all.

I also don't see anyone disrespecting Troy on this thread.

The downtown development will be the project that transforms the city and college. It will keep the students in town and help to convince the fans to make a weekend of it.

I'm not a Troy fan because of wins and losses.

I too don't see any real disrespect....it was just a thing that people in larger cities would not bat an eye....."oh another Publix...but its closer" I live in Marianna Florida and would LOVE to have a Publix here....and yes I would be excited.....and when in Troy I will go that Publix......it is just noting that when you get excited about that.....You probably are from a small town......I grew up in Kansas in a town of 63 people........TROY excites the crud out of me just as it is......that is over a quarter a century ago since left that town in Kansas and while I will go back and visit I like not being there all the time

One gas station/general store. One BBQ restaurant/bar. No caution lights or red lights. No high speed internet. The girl scouts donated proceeds from their cookie sale to buy a light bar for the local police car.

Fun times.

Last time I went through Oz, it has grown quite a bit too.

I currently live in a town with one red light, and a caution light that hasn't flashed in over a year. We had newspaper articles and excitement about a new grocery store openning in one town over, and it isn't even a Publix.

The Bucc-ee's in New Braunfels (15 miles South of San Marcos) is pretty incredible. 68,000 square feet, 120 gas pumps and 85 stall bathrooms
