I disagree about Joey Jones. I think he's a very good recruiter, but only so-so as a coach. He doesn't have much of a coaching history, so the jury's out on whether or not he can be that guy. With coaches from Arkansas State, Louisiana, GS and APP whose coaching have both history and Top Tier success at their current school, it would be hard for a Joey Jones lead South, or even a Troy to get in there consistently. The next big leap for South Alabama football will likely be when Joey Jones leaves and USA dumps a lot more money into coaching salaries.
A lot of wishful thinking in that post. Joey has managed USA transition from nothing to FBS masterfully and the moves he made this offseason show he is dedicated to winning.
He also appears to be looking to get out of Mobile as quickly as possible. He interviews for just about every job that comes open.
I'm not a Troy fan because of wins and losses.
This is true. Including Troy
He and Clark both wanted the job at Troy. Neither made the final cut.

I don't know about Clark, but that's not true in regards to Joey Jones.

We made the right hire IMO. Happy about it.
Couldn't agree more. Only time will tell though.

He doesn't want out of Mobile. Interviewing and actually intending to leave are not necessarily connected.
Yea. Ok then.

This is a silly argument. Your sources at Troy will tell you one thing and ours at USA will tell us another. You'll believe yours and we'll believe ours.

Why interview for every opening out there if you aren't looking to leave?
Also all documentation of all people that apply/interview are destroyed once they are eliminated from the process.
The dragging of the feet for an campus stadium for you guys may just be keeping your program from reaching its full potential at this point.

There's one thing I will say... Hemi is closer to the Troy program than anyone.. If he says it happened..... It happened.

I can confirm that he did in fact interview for the job. My information comes from extremely high on the food chain. That means nothing to you, and I don't blame you, but I won't out my source. I prefer to keep my contacts off of message boards.
I agree that we made a much better hire than if we had hired Joey Jones. Jones had one year of head coaching experience at the college level before starting USA football. He went 3-7 at Birmingham Southern before arriving in Mobile. To be fair, Birmingham Southern did not field a team the year before Jones got there. He doesn't have the resumes most in the SBC have, which is why Neal Brown is a much better choice, and also why it's no guarantee that Joey Jones is all the sudden going to rocket into Top Tier SBC.

I've asked myself that same question. Seems like something behind the scenes isn't quite right for Joey Jones and or South Alabama. That's just my opinion though.

I agree with your stance in the bolded sentence and feel the same way about mine.
I also don't blame you for feeling good about Brown. New energy in a program always makes it exciting. USA got a bit of the same with the return of Bryant Vincent.
