I took it as...he's a good coach at NIU, but DePaul can pay him more, so they could hire him away.

signing a talented class of players doesn't mean anything unless you can coach them to win games.

I don't think anyone would doubt Monty is a good coach, he just has not had the horses, that appears to be changing.

WOW! Chris Jans is being let go at Bowling Green? Would think he could be a hot commodity for several MMs.

His recent public conduct is what got him terminated. I'm not sure what that is but it could not have been good.

RE: #1 Recruiting class??
Here's a story about Branden Dawson w/ some Monty quotes. He recruited him.

I have always liked Izzo and his way to take chances and kids. It always seems to work out. Especially Michigan and Midwest kids. Seems a lot of parents, namely mothers, have trust in him to be a mentor and get the best out of their sons.

Nice to see Monty get some credit here. Maybe he is a risk taker, the recruiter as advertised NIU needed. Perhaps will be seeing his recruiting results keep getting better. And from the next class, appears he is on the right path.

It looks like a great class but Baker, Maric, Armstead and Bowie are the key to a good season.

This class is more about 2017-19 than it is next season. NIU wont win the MAC next year, but man oh man if these kids stay together you could be talking about multiple championships.

Highsmith was easily NIU's best player as a true freshman before he got hurt. Basketball isn't football. If these dudes are good, you should see flashes rather quickly.

Ya and chances are if kids aren't an impact early than they may not even be on the roster 2-3 yrs from now.

Good ole AAU culture.

Maddawg, with 5-6 freshman out of 12-guys that should be healthy. The freshman must contribute right away. Wilson is being brought in to score 10plus pts right away. Two years from now this class and Monty may not be here. Monty needs 17-18 wins to get a 6th year, I believe.

I might think that's true before this class, this class seems like a game-changer to me in terms of Montgomery. He will at least get 2-3 years since NIU's recruiting has improved exponentially.

You honestly think someone would get an extension because of recruits? I hope you don't manage people.

I think Maddawg means that, Monty probably see's the end of his current contract. His current contract has 3 more years.

If he improves, great recruiting or not, if he doesn't hit 16 - 18 wins in one of these next two seasons (maybe both), I don't think he sees the third.
