I'm actually glad the heat is turned on. I love JMU, but I reengaged with the school during our championship year of 2004 after leaving it as a memory for many many years (1982 grad). After 2004 - 2008 years of great football, we all just knew it was a matter of time. Now 6 or 7 years later, and no progression towards advancing our program to the next level, my interest is diminishing. I can easily go back to only a game every couple of years should we not make a change, and eagerly awaiting to see which direction I will need to go, less purple and gold in my closet or more.

Take this as you may but our local TV sports guy here in BG tweeted out he has heard USA has made the hardest push to be in CUSA and is looking like the candidate to replace UAB....Someone asked him about ULL and he said he heard they were not interested...A lot of times he has been right on this kind of stuff so we will see...

CUSA may not be interested, doubt that is the case for UL.

Have to question this guy's sources when he says ULL is not interested. Everyone knows ULL would happily lick CUSA's boots when asked.

ULL is VERY INTERESTED...It's just the CUSA is not interested in ULL. East School's dont want them, and La Tech despite whatever some Cajuns fans say is not going to support the Cajuns unless it is clear they don't have a choice in the matter.

I'd be surprised if we we move over to CUSA.

I think CUSA will give UAB a timeframe to reinstate football, if they don't bring football back then they will have to look for a new conference. If that happens then CUSA will not stand pat at 13 schools and will take one of ULL, AState or South Alabama.

If CUSA adds someone I don t think it will happen this year. I agree with the Marshall fan that UAB will be given some time. I really don t think CUSA wants to boot UAB and will give them a wide window of opportunity to bring back football.

It's not like UAB lost football through an accident and want it back. Their administration purposefully killed it. I'm pretty sure their admin wants to remain in CUSA, but I doubt they are begging for time to reinstate their football program or even indicating that there is a chance that it will be brought back.

Yea, the real issue with the analysis above is that it is predicated on UAB's administration actually stating that they're going to bring back football. I would be very happy for UAB's fans if that happened, but I'd be shocked if that happened from this administration.

UAB might be able to play another season in CUSA for basketball, but its looking really more and more likely that they'll need to find a new home as of July 1, 2016. It appears as if the Missouri Valley is interested.

What does CUSA do? I have absolutely no idea. It seems to me that with the new rule on a CCG, that means that CUSA can just sit at 13. I'm not sure they take anyone. I'm not sure they really should.

RE: JMU back in play???
Yep just play as 1 big 13 team conference. You could still schedule football games to guarantee that every team plays the teams that are closest if travel expenses are such a big deal.

What is being overlooked is that not only is the 12 team requirement for a championship game being eliminated but the provision that with 12 teams you had to divide into divisions and play each division team. CUSA could most certainly make 13 teams work.

RE: JMU back in play???
The one issue that hasn't been talked about, is the division of any football monies. If UAB is allowed to stay, even for one more year, do they get a cut of the Football revenue? Frankly, that is one thing I sorely disagree with the way the SB handles it. I see nothing fair about the way you divvy it up and I have a hard time believing CUSA will want to change their policy for even a year yet I don't believe they will take the SB's easy out approach either.

Our administration has done very little in terms of conference realignment.

I doubt if u-laf is not interested. they seem to be a bit above everyone else in just about all things sports, but this conference is going to be a pretty good one all around. the rest of us need to keep improving..besides, everyone in cusa seems to be looking for somewhere else to go.

Say the SB were to lose South Alabama. Are they likely to stand pat or would that force them to add another member?

With Championship Deregulation looking to pass for 2016, seems like this may stop conferences from expanding. Why would SB add a team if it does not need one for a CCG. Looks like JMU may have missed their chance.

South Alabama isn't going anywhere but the Sun Belt. Can you please direct y'all's rumors at another school? No one here is buying it.
