I'm certainly not buying the 10th place finish, but there are also so many questions and things that would fall perfectly to see them finish top 3. Almost like winning the lottery.

I’m also not buying the 10th place finish. I’m also not banking on a top 3 finish. It’s possible, but not likely. Somewhere in the 5-7 range seem probable.

Also, the Keatts years were the golden era of UNCW basketball? Ummmmm, no. Those were good years, but the Wainwright/Brownell eras were the golden era. Multiple NCAAT bids spread across continuity of two coaches with an NCAAT win.

That really sucks. However, due to some pretty impressive recruiting in the guard positions I don't feel like this is quite as devastating as it was for the team last year. That's not to downplay or disrespect Estime, as he's a very good ball player... just a note that we seem especially deep in the guard position with some really lower floor, higher ceiling players who can step up.

Can a player be given more than 1 medical year?

I really like our roster this year.

We have size, skill and depth at every position this year. The addition of Carr, Harvey and Steere will be huge. Under Keatts, it was all about defense and the three ball, so I expect offensive numbers will determine starters. In Keatts best year, we were a threat from three at all four guard positions. Steere and Dodd will be a solid combo at the five.

No way we finish 10th., and I feel like top five for sure, with an outside shot at top three. This reminds me a lot of low predictions Keatts first year. We didn't lose much, and this roster has some big wins and we were competitive to end last season. We will be the surprise of the CAA.

Too bad we didn't stick with what was working when Keatts left. It sure looks like we have the horses and system to compete right now. If we can hit 3 pointers, watch out.

Yes provided he graduates before the sixth year.

Zach Walton from Drexel is an example. He was hurt a year in Juco and then his first year at Drexel. He was given a waiver to return for a sixth year over the summer.

https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/pla...nov-1.html has statistics for Andrey Semenov, who played for JMU in six seasons from 2008-2009 through 2013-2014. He played 4 games in 2009-2010 and 7 games in 2012-2013 that were both few enough to get medical redshirts.

Anything can happen but I just don't see that at all. I see UNCW playing FAR better than that simply because this style has proven to take UNCW to the top and they have players that can do this already. Once you're committed to this style, it's how you play and it wears teams down at the CAA-A10 level and below. It just does, but it may take a minute.

Judging by recruiting and style of play, UNCW will be back in the dance sooner than later...book it.
