Nah, I've earned it.

Dangling a carrot to get us to forget about football, and dividing the fanbase. Contact with the MVC would require some degree of foresight and competence on the part of our administration. Does anyone really have that kind of faith in them?

I'd say the "distraction" refers to the focus being shifted away from #freeuab legislation. If we forget to place pressure on our legislators or lose sight of Montgomery activity, then the bills die in committee and we then must go looking for a new conference.
We can certainly debate the merits of a short-term move to a better basketball league, but never at the expense of continuing the #freeuab movement. Right now, that means contacting your legislator, as well as the Education Committee.

This is simply maddening. I thought this was more than about football.

The two biggest things that Direct Communications wants are for us to back off of Watts and for us to become divided, to lose focus in any way they can manufacture.
This is about fair treatment by the board of trustees and about the entire system being represented and involved, not simply the interest of one part. Sure, it's about getting football back, but if we fix that we can deal with the rest.

This is correct. The point, as always, is to ignore Drew.
It may be incorrect...if the conference doesn't sponsor D1 football, you can be d1 basketball in one conference...FCS/below in another.
MVC does not sponsor football (the MVC football conference is not related to the basketball conference, it's the Gateway conference renamed)
see Villanova as an example.
UAB fans are still the same delightful folks, I see...

If you are going to stick around, try to understand the conversation. It is clearly stated above that they are talking about D2 or D3, not FCS. If you are too dense, with that Memphis education, go back to their board, where you can understand their drivel.

what's the difference? As a Memphis fan I've never worried about anything other than what's currently called FBS...why would I?
With old friends like UAB, who needs enemies?

In all honesty, how much interaction does Haase have with watts? I ask this because I really don't know. It doesn't seem like it would be much though.
I also can't see Haase leaving right now. He finally got everything set up his way.
It would be crazy timing to leave. If he returns everything next year, this team could be a borderline top 25 with legit ncaa at large hopes. If he leaves, he is likely going to a crappy situation where he would have to start from scratch again.
One last thing to consider, although our season ended on a high note, Haase is still just a few games over .500 in his career.

I would add that Haase is an emotional guy with respect to his attachment to his players. This is probably something he learned and picked up from his relationship with Roy Williams. I doubt Haase would really abandon all of these young players that he brought into UAB, for one because of their potential and for another because of his emotional connection to them.
If there's a time I'll be worried, it will be in about 2-3 years when we are graduating alot of these guys and he's (hopefully) coming off a string of several NCAA appearances. That's the point where UAB is really going to have to pony up some cash if we want to keep him.

I agree 9911, Haase isn't going anywhere, at least until Summer 2016.
Our team returning next year has a great chance to be very, very special.
