Another big game for UTA tonight. Dallas Baptist leads the nation in RPI right now.

I'm worried about a let down game. A game versus a ranked UT team at a major league stadium is not hard to get up for as a player. A game against a similar ranked Dallas Baptist team at home immediately following has trap game all over it.

Appreciate your support as always.

Fantastic game in a fantastic environment. Always bugs me that the local contingent won't show unless it is a bigger name, but a record 4,123 to see a Maverick game in Arlington was onhand to view it.

UTA finished every complete inning ahead after they scored first until the ninth, when our Friday night starter came in and gave up 3. Mavs trailed 5-2. Big pinch hit for a freshman hitting .111 put the tying runs across the plate. A 1-2-3 tenth followed by a leadoff triple turned to victory after a UT-Austin wild pitch. Crowd erupted (though many left after UTA gave up three in the ninth).

UTA has really impressed me in two ways. One, there are a lot of freshman and they came up big and have all season. I mentioned the clutch 2-RBI hit with two outs, but several frosh pitchers put zeros on the board. The winning run was scored by a frosh and I think three Fr. pitchers had zero ER's tonight.

The second is how the offense moves with two outs. This game is another example, but we did it against stAte and USA. That is the mark of a winning team.

Nice win UTA, exciting finish and great crowd. im sure they loved every minute of it. 04-cheers

uta games over there in the big league park are a lot of fun. we play tcu and a-m there on occasion. ut-austin has never wanted to play us here before. no rest from ranked teams tho as # 16 dbu comes in tonight, weather permitting.

No doubt, our newish AD, Mr. Baker, influenced or arranged the visiting team.

I will say this is one thing I agree with you on skins. We have been a slightly above average team for the past 10 years. We got into the tournament last year because we got hot at the right time and had an unbelievable pitching rotation. Every year we seem to always be a team that makes errors. Last year was the first game in a regional we had won in 12 years.

Rodney has been good for the program, and I'm glad he coached out team, but it is time to move on and try some fresh blood. You see it all the time in sports. A coach hangs around for a really long time, and the fire just isn't there. This gets brought up on the other board and people act like you are talking about firing bobby cox.

Our out of conference schedule is most certainly not "garbage". Of the 11 teams we play, four were conference champions and five made NCAA tournament appearances last year. I think Mercer should have made the tournament last year too. We can't control what these teams are playing like this year. Pick any P5 team's schedule (or anyone in our conference) and look at their OOC games and report back your findings.

The people that defend Rodney, myself included, understand the landscape of college baseball today.

That seems to be the general consensus. "We can't afford anything better," "Who else are we going to get?" etc.

It's not like Rodney makes $30,000 a year. There are plenty of assistant coaches that'd love to take over a Division 1 program, especially one that has been pretty good historically. But you know how the good ole boy system works in Statesboro. Hopefully TK will shake things up soon.

RE: Baseball stats (3/17)
In Rodney's previous 15 years he is 540-365, 5 conference championships, 6 NCAA tournament appearances and a grand total of ONE losing season. What else do you want? We're not Georgia Tech and won't get selected for the tournament with 32 wins. Unless you are the LSUs, Miss St, FSUs, etc of the world it is impossible to keep a team consistent these days. Players leave as soon as they are drafted and continually move around to find better exposure so you are replacing a third of your team every year. Everyone has the same struggles and Rodney has done a great job for us.

That is garbage. We were in the Socon. Easily the most fertile recruiting ground in the conference. Two College World Series. Double the rest of the conference. COMBINED. 30 win seasons are barely .500. The Socon also had a ton of non-fully funded teams.

Most schools have never been to a college world series and Western Carolina has more appearances than we do. That tells me for sure you know nothing about college baseball.

Wow. You are a loon. WCU has never been to CWS. Only other Socon team that has is Citadel. Once. GSU has been twice. Hence double rest of the conference combined. Do some more yayo.
