Which completely untested QB will become the message board darling? That's the big question.

Doesn't Mosley have that all locked up?!

RE: 2015 Tribe Spring Ball
If he's really healthy, as he appears to be, Mosley is my bet. This young man came to W&M
with a brilliant HS career behind him and, according to our offenses coaches, tremendous multi-talents and a great arm. The fact that he remained at W&M and is out there now, despite two disappointing seasons of injury which saw him getting around campus with his leg in some sort of scooter contraption to keep it immobile, is encouraging.

We'll see.

Is the #TeamJhalil bandwagon open again? If so I'm boarding and never getting off.

I thought it was already established that Kate Upton showing up at the original posters door was more realistic than mosley sliding in as this years starter.

Which is exactly why he's the darling!

It's unusual to have a repeat darling. Usually last year's darling is swept aside by a freshman QB and the cycle repeats itself.

If I'm going to hype up an untested QB, why not the completely unseen & unknown in Brandon Battle. He's my choice for new qb crush.

I like it. I'm pretty sure people saw Mosley throw in previous spring practices before he was treated by team surgeon Dr. Nick Riviera so he's ineligible.

RE: 2015 Tribe Spring Ball
It would be nice at some point to see a QB play three years as a starter. I don't know who it could have been scripted any worse after Lang left campus. I personally thought Cluely looked really good in a lot of the games last year and better than a lot of first time starters.

I agree on Cluley. He improved a lot over the season and showed mental and physical toughness. I hope he has improved more, and he could be a great player.

Phillips started for 3 years, and there are those who retroactively wished Archer started instead in 2008. Careful what you wish for.

With regards to Cluley, here's how every Tribe QB that's thrown at least 50 passes in a season has done since 2010 in three of the most important stats for a QB. First stat: Yards/attempt.

Paulus 2011 3.71
Graham 2012 6.11
Paulus 2010 6.22
Caprio 2012 6.28
Graham 2013 6.51
Cluley 2014 7.14
Ortiz 2012 7.19
Caprio 2011 7.43
Caprio 2013 7.54
Callahan 2010 7.94
Graham 2011 8.55

Here's completion percentage:

Paulus 2011 38.9
Graham 2013 53.3
Graham 2012 53.4
Ortiz 2012 53.4
Caprio 2013 55.6
Cluley 2014 57.1
Caprio 2012 59.6
Graham 2011 59.8
Callahan 2010 61.7
Paulus 2010 62.0
Caprio 2011 63.6

Here's TD/INT ratio:

Caprio 2011 0.857
Graham 2012 1.333
Caprio 2012 1.5
Paulus 2011 1.67
Graham 2011 1.67
Paulus 2010 2
Graham 2013 2.5
Ortiz 2012 2.5
Caprio 2013 2.5
Cluley 2014 2.75
Callahan 2010 3.33

Let's assign points for each of those- the best gets 11 points, 2nd best gets 10 points, etc.

Paulus 2011 6
Graham 2012 7
Caprio 2012 14
Graham 2013 14
Ortiz 2012 19
Paulus 2010 19
Caprio 2011 20
Cluley 2014 22
Caprio 2013 23
Graham 2011 24
Callahan 2010 30

Cluley's first year rates out pretty well. His yards/attempt and completion % were middle of the pack but he did a good job of limiting INTs which bolstered his numbers. He somehow rated better than the legend that is Raphael Ortiz. Had I included stats like "most times broke the pocket too early" or "most unncessary hits taken" he'd be higher. Cluley also survived the entire season, which is something no other QB on this list can claim.

I think if you guys are going to be "concerned" the trenches are where you should look.

Lots of dudes rehabbing from surgeries.

I think Cluley will be just fine, I thought he did very well last yr all things considered. He also is battle tested, so in order to beat him out you would have to be dramatically better, and I do not see anyone doing that.

RE: 2015 Tribe Spring Ball
I would tend to agree with the last post. Creating a great competition this spring will pay dividends next fall should there be an injury keeping him out for a series, a half, a game or multiple games. Developing depth at this position is very important.

Cluley is the guy. When given protection he showed well. Hoping the OL is healing, and with another year under their belts, I bet we will see Steve look much improved.

He got pounded a lot last year. The one game I recall he got slammed, looked like hell on the sidelines, but was back in the next series.

Barring injury, this is a nobrainer.

Tommy was the scout team offensive player of the year and seems to be on track to fill in if needed. I really hope he gets a chance to play in mop up duty this season and actually gets the go-ahead to pass.

There is no way Brandon will play this season as I cannot recall a Laycock QB to ever have played freshman year.

I think the secondary will be one of the strengths of the defense next season. The only starter we're replacing is Tagoe.
