Fall Foliage in mid October is great that time of year as well!!!! It's a great trip for all my Southern friends who are tired of seeing all those pine trees!

I find it odd that all the UMass fans I have talked to are really excited about playing Georgia Southern again, but the GS fans seem to be lukewarm about it.

Could someone explain that to me?

Two teams with an old history finally playing again seems like it would be a good thing. I'm definitely going to try and make the trip down in 2018.

To echo the other poster it is not about you specifically but some of our Sun Belt teams have had P5's so a lot of us are wanting to see one pop up. If we had not gotten our revenge on you back in the day for fumbling away an NC and your RB saying "we own the south" after beating Furman and before playing us I would definitely be more up for it!

Ignore Skins, he only speaks for himself... and to himself...

If I can, I would love to make the trip up!

I am somewhat worried that UMass will A: get into a new conference by 2018 and have to back out of our home game or B: not be able to a find a conference or be able to afford to be independent at the FBS level by 2018 (thus canceling our home game).

I don't think either will happen, but it's possible. I was a freshman at Ga Southern in 1998 and remember both of our meetings well. I wouldn't mind some revenge for the 1998 upset. Looking forward to this one.

Does no one remember 1999 playoff game when we did get revenge on UMASS? Didn't AP have over 350 yds rushing. We got our revenge and went on to beat Youngstown for a NC.

I'm ok with this series. I have relatives in Boston so I may actually try and make the game up there. These are perfectly fine G5 home and home games and I'm for them, but most GS fans are waiting for that 1st "BIG" team to come to Paulson.

I should have said "I want even more revenge". I remember 1999 very well. Helluva a year!

I don't remember the UMass game in '99 at all... Must have been a helluva game day for me.

Understood. We've been pretty luck to already have Indiana, Vanderbilt, Boston College, and Colorado visit us in Massachusetts.

This is a bit off topic, but I noticed Georgia Southern is ranked #15 in all time winning %. It's nice to see us in the same conversation as Michigan, Notre Dame, LSU, Bama, Boise St, Ohio State, Texas, USC, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Penn St, Florida St, Tennessee

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Divisi...ss_records

What's even better is seeing Georgia Southern ahead of the school that's #16

If you use the numbers since the program was restarted (and I know you can't) we'd be number 1 @.734

Some of our fans apparently think P5s should be lining up to get a home-and-home with us.

You guys need to pursue Miami, Vanderbilt, and Wake for P5 home and home series.

I want home-and-home series with the top southern G5 programs first like Marshall, ECU, UCF, Southern Miss, MTSU, etc. Again, no offense to those that we have on the schedule but our fans are savvy (cue the jokes) and know who's who. These G5 programs will draw well in Statesboro too.

I don't know if it's fair to group the U with Wake and Vandy. I know they're all private but still, Miami is a few steps above.

You're correct, but we might out draw them in Miami. 02-13-banana

I think Southern goal should be any school from AAC. Cincinnati would be a nice addition. A school who tries to recruit in the south and they don't exactly have the largest stadium at 35,000. Cincinnati is high octane offense and would def draw a crowd at Paulson.

Our stadium sits more than Appy but they are having no trouble on scheduling. Must be because of how big a city Boone is, and how easy it is to get there.

it actually does. But App has had multiple 30k+ attended games.

And what foreskins doesn't ever seem to understand is that Wake and app state are an hour and a half away. that guarantees a large traveling crowd from wake, and low travel expenses for wake when they go to boone. common sense isn't his specialty.
