NCAA Tournament
What seed will we get? I'd love to see us get the 15 seed that will play 2 seeded Gonzaga.

I think 15 is a definite.

Unreal game last Saturday. Still have a HIGH from it. I so wish I could be at the Bruins lunch tomorrow but I am sadly out of town this week. Go Bruins!!

RE: NCAA Tournament
I'll be there tomorrow. I'll recap. Love the exposure we got today and enjoyed listening to all the interviews. CB's interview with Doug Gottlieb was a good one. Byrd defended Murray, suggesting that they deserved a bid. Said they were a better tournament team than us and that if they do get the nod he believes they will win "a game or games." He also stated that MSU would beat BU in 6 of 7 on a neutral court. I'm with Byrd on them being more of a tournament team than us. They are freakishly athletic for a mid major. I don't know about 6 of 7 though. Either way I hope Murray gets in...they deserve it. It's hard for me to defend MSU because I passionately despise them, but I can't help but root the growth and prosperity of our conference. Murray Belmont is turning into one hell of a rivalry. In 5 games they have a 16 point advantage, with a 15 point victory at the Bank this year representing the majority of the discrepancy. Remove that outlier and there is a 1 point disparity in the remaining four games. We of course have the edge in W/L column, winning 3 of 5 and two OVC championship games (decided by a combined 3 pts). I look forward to many great battles with MSU in the years to come. That is if they stay in the OVC. According to their forum, many want out.

Here's a replay of the Byrd's interview with DG

RE: NCAA Tournament
I was thinking this week...I DO hope Murray gets a bid, although I don't think they will. I think they deserve it and it would be good for the OVC. That said, I was listening to some Murray fans complaining this week about how unfair it is that they had a great regular season and then lost in the championship game and most likely lost their opportunity to Belmont...and suddenly it occurred to me that we know EXACTLY how they feel - that was us last year! We weren't unbeaten in the conference, but had only 2 conference losses AND an earlier win over North Carolina AND 3 of our non-conference losses were to VCU, Richmond, and Kentucky, won the conference, lost the championship game...

Doesn't change anything, but made me both more sympathetic on one hand and more prone to thinking "well...it happened to us...you'll get over it" on the other :)

I agree. But like Prohm is saying, despite some terrible losses, from an eye ball test they definitely should be in the big dance. Coach Byrd has stated multiple times that he was told had we lost the 12/13 championship we would have still made it. Albeit we had the 24th best RPI. That's the difference in getting in getting a bid and not.

RE: NCAA Tournament
Dammit. IMO, we got the worst possible matchup for this year's Bruins team. Virginia is the best defensive team in the country and are very long on the perimeter (we greatly struggle against). Hope Taylor is on fire in his return to UVA. The only impetus I see for Belmont is that Justin Anderson is returning from an injury and played very poorly in his two games back in the ACC tournament. I've heard many say that UVA is not the same team as they were early in the season but what an unfortunate draw. They should be a 1 seed. 2 of their 3 loses on the year came in the last 8 days.
