Let it die hoops. If he continues this, it will be on him. In the mean time, I'm going to work on getting a smack board so we don't continue to have important threads hijacked.

Yet, your guys started the conversation and shot taking. What I can't post a response.
I never said you couldn't respond, but stay on topic. This thread concerns post season play, not the current state of ecu recruiting. If you can't understand that, it's on you.

It's relevant when people say things basically like you suck and will never be good. The fact is we haven't been in this situation with interest from talent like this before. It's certainly is a part of that conversation and response to those statements. I haven't been disrespectful and I provided some info about cost as the CIT is much cheaper which apparently you didn't know.

So, how many months have you been trolling our threads, waiting for a statement so you can go off on here. You're such an insecure prick.

No one talks about UNCW on our boards, much less takes shots at you.
You should play in the CIT, it's a good experience for your team and gives you some extra practice and doesn't cost much (or anything if your fans buy tickets you make money). You guys can marginalize it but we sold out home games, got on National TV and beat a 30-7 team in front of 11k people.
Nominated for an Emmy with this doc about the CIT championship game. Some people thought it was a bigger deal than you think I'm sure.

That wasn't a "shot" at EZU, Jonesing. It was truth. You didn't gain anything out of your CIT run. Your football team guiding you to the AAC has helped your recruiting. Not a # 67 RPI finish and CIT title.
Back to the topic. When would we make this decision? Shortly after the NIT selections are announced?
I have requested a smack board. Once we have one, you may discuss your disdain for ECU and vice versa there.
I understand the sentiment between several posters goes back several years and runs deep, but let's leave personal attacks and name callings off the boards. While there is history, if certain posters are making legit points (sticking to the topic) and doing so respectfully, please reciprocate the respect. You can duke it out in the smack board later.
Until then, you can direct your anger and frustration at me, throw rotten fruits and veggies, burn me in effigy, you know... all the good stuff.
Back to the topic, and to answer your question SN08...
I would imagine there would probably be some sort of preliminary talks between our AD and the NIT folks, prior to an announcement of teams? I may be wrong.
Additionally, I would think once possible teams our announced we would probably hear a yay/nay within a day or two at most.

I don't think we're necessarily looking for respect by playing in these tournaments. Seems as though the two big reasons are post season experience and rewarding the team, coaches, and fans for an excellent season.
Last year CIT winner was Murray state. Paid off for them. i hope they can make it work out financially because i think the cit will be interested. Co regular season champs and possbily the best caa team left for these tier 3 tournaments. Seems like they would want to get us in somehow

It is if there's something to be gained by it financially. Basketball is the driving force behind our entire athletic department's financial future. One of the many reasons we had to cut track in the first place is that our basketball team hadn't been relevant for a while. Now that it is it makes perfect sense to make investments where we see it being beneficial.
Not sure if the administration was prepared for this year's success. Only 1 upper level non athletic admin from the university went to baltimore, our band was not brought in, and our student turnout was abysmal leading me to belive there was no administrstive effort to get students to go. Knowing all this, i just dont know of they will find the money for us to host. You have to sell tickets on very short notice with no season tickets presold.
Now having said all that we did host a wnit game a few years back and im almost positive we had to pay for that privilege. so if that was successful and profitable im sure the mens would be as well
Murray State is headed to the NIT now the way it looks. You have to play somebody and at least, play decent when you do. As far as the CIT/CBI goes, if they get an invite, go play and enjoy. It's not the NCAA's or NIT, you know....some relevant tourney, but it is something. We all should have known that we were hurting when the Hawks blew the NIT bid. That one hurt.
