UAB

The Athletic Programs Conference
Troy
Georgia Southern
UL
ULM
Arkansas State
Appalachian State
ODU
Marshall
WKU
MTSU
South Alabama
Southern Mississippi
Texas State

I like how there's only one school you shipped out of the SBC to the Markets conference. I guess it's a shame they haven't done anything positive lately in athletics.

That was a nice way to suck up to everyone in the conference except the hated Georgia State, though...

At least he put you in a conference. He has UTA floating out there somewhere, along with UALR. UAB made it though...03-drunk

I understand the reasons why some wouldn’t want Liberty, but there’s no doubt they would be competitive in sun belt football from day one.
2014- Wins against Sun Belt’s App St and FCS powerhouses JMU and Coastal. They also were beating UNC well into the 3rd quarter in the season opener.
2012- Lost to Wake Forest on a last second field goal 20-17
2010- Beat Ball St.
Big South Champs or Co- Champs 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014. (yes a weak conference)
20,000 student attendance in 2014
Huge athletics budget and beautiful facilities
New Baseball, Softball, and Football Stadiums

sounds like they have the makings of being a successful independent like BYU.

You had 20,000 people total at two of your games, there's no chance you had 20,000 students at a game.

Just to be clear: Your stance is that because you won against App early in the season when they were a dumpster fire (seriously: App fans will say that themselves), and because you beat a pair of FCS teams... You believe that is proof that you will compete in the Sun Belt?

Considering two FCS teams finished at the top of the SBC last year, I'd say they could probably compete just fine.

You're referencing two of the top teams in FCS history, who joined the Sun Belt at it's lowest point in the last 5 years.

I would be willing to wager if they played a Sun Belt schedule (even if they didn't play the top 2 teams), they would be marked near the bottom of the conference.

Yes compete, they are no Georgia Southern but you can’t honestly think they would be the bottom dweller of the conference either. And yes I agree that App St was struggling early in the season when they played each other but it’s not like Liberty played a perfect game either.

Yeah, I think Liberty would be a cellar dweller.

I think they beat Georgia State, and maybe Idaho. That's it. 1-2 wins in conference, maybe (if you're lucky in OOC scheduling) 2 wins OOC.

I have doubt but then again, the word "competitive" is a subjective one. Your win against APP State was a good (FCS/FBS transitional) win for you but they were one of the worst teams in the SBC at the time too.

If by "competitive" you mean staying within three touchdowns against the top half of the conference in more games than not, you're possibly correct.

Replace Liberty with Ga Southern and this is the same exact stuff we heard last year.

Not from THIS guy. We're talking apples and oranges here. GS was an FCS powerhouse. Liberty is nowhere near a powerhouse in the FCS.

yeah, because Georgia Southern and Liberty have had similar paths in FCS. They are virtually the same.
