All in all neither has a distinct advantage at this point in admissions and or quality of student our SAT's are higher and you say your GPA is higher. Really a letter of recommendation and an essay? Folks scoring above the national average in SAT scores should not have a problem with either and the SAT has a written portion now I believe. Who is not going to write a kid a letter of recommendation to go to college?
The point is that now you're trying to piece through details when just a few posts ago you stated that Georgia Southern's entrance requirements had passed Georgia State's, and that it's "just a fact." Presumably, you're basing it on incoming freshman at Southern having a higher mean GPA (and no idea of the statistical significance of the difference). That's a far cry from it being "just a fact" that Southern's entrance requirements are higher. Are they? Maybe. My guess is that there isn't much difference in what it would take for a new freshman to get into either school. But there's no point in taking a single number and making broad statements based on that.

Yeah, i was just trying to discount someone saying the entrance requirements are more difficult at southern, which they aren't any way you look at it. They don't have set entrance requirements, and while their SAT/ACT might on average be higher, that doesn't make their requirements any more stringent, because they aren't. But i can say that having to write an essay and have a letter of recommendation is more stringent than southern. And we can argue what difference that makes, but in the end i'm not the one trying to say that State is much easier to get into than southern, which is just complete BS.

And our average GPA is higher. So and we require an essay and letter of recommendation, so I'm asking how you come to the conclusion that is easier to get into GSU than southern?

I said SAT scores are higher that is a fact the GaSt poster brought up GPA so try and piece things together a little better yourself. I also stated there is little difference soooo ok (see bolded above). We have at minimum pulled even in this area and gaining ground in just about all others which is the point.

No, you said this:

It was my error to put GPA rather than SAT scores (sorry about that); you still took one piece of data and ran with it. I'm glad we agree that there's little difference, but it doesn't change the fact that you stated a generalization that drew a response from at least one Panther fan. No need to take it personally and no need to try to change what you said.
EDIT: A bonus tip: Saying that Southern students are higher quality than State students is not a good way to back up the belief that our students are similar.

RE: The Business Journal: 2015 rankings of U.S. public colleges
I'm glad it is almost 5. I'm ready for a beer. I have a 12 pack of Sam Adams at home that I was supposed to be drinking today, but NOOOOOOO, mother nature decided to stay above freezing to allow for good road conditions. So I had to go to work. Lame.
On another note. Anybody here have any experience with at 2010+ VW CC? I'm looking to buy one this summer.
Thanks
