The double technical was crazy but it was a very good game otherwise. Wilder was 16 for 16 for FTs (he was 4-4 on the technicals).

Excellent treys by EMU. Lamont looked all-MAC. Excellent game.

This was NOT a game where one team plays so poorly that they lose it. WMU deserved to win.

RE: Game Week: CMU and @WMU
Too bad on the loss. Would have been big in multiple ways if they could have pulled this off. But instead it cements a losing record in the MAC.

I do feel like there is a usual ref slant against EMU, if only slight. I feel like refs are used to EMU losing, so just give the benefit of the doubt to the opposing team. Murphy should have shown more restraint, but I also empathize with his frustration. Refs in general, but also the pressure he must feel to get a win right now may have compounded that.

Overall, I would say good effort though I did not see the game. It is not easy for EMU to win on the road at WMU, so glad to see they competitive. Lee single handedly kept this from being a foregone conclusion very early on. My compliments to him.

EMU should win against Ball St, or they are not worth commenting on. That should set them up to fight for one against Toledo.

GO EMU!!!!

GO EMU!!!!

These two WMU games were both very, very well contested.

I got to feel happy for WMU with an excellent recruiting class (Josh Davis and Seth Dugan) and getting such EXCELLENT games from two frosh, Lamont and Wilder.

They will lose some good talent, including David Brown, but they recruit really well.

"@Drew_on_WMU: EMU bench was warned earlier in the second half. Guessing it was a language thing b/c Murphy wasn't blowing a gasket"

That's a weakkkkk ejection that late in the game. You practically need to be going full Bob Knight to be double-teched usually. Chad and Sean didn't really make that clear on the radio. I figured Murphy went nuts.

Wow, that is weak!!! I am outraged. With all the howling other coaches do... It drives me crazy and I can't believe more techs don't get called. But of course EMU gets them.

This is a case in point about Refs slants against EMU.

Can't say I am too happy for them and their perennial competitiveness. But I can respect it.

I've watched/listened to all but one of our D1 games this year and I can't remember Murphy ever getting a tech. He chirps at the refs a lot but never shows them up like Hurley or Montgomery. Just out of character for him to get thrown out.

Such a shame that it happened. It really killed what was looking to be a great finish to that game.

True, watching the game on webcast, there was nothing VISUAL that Murphy did. He was not on the floor.

Agree, I can't believe double technical in a what 3-point game with what 3+ minutes to go.

That is literally handing one team the win.

Ok, thanks. Seems the pressure to get a win might be getting to Murphy.

I was at the game in 2nd row... Looked like he got a warning and then a technical, then clear as day he turned to the ref and said "Mother F...er". That is did see. Now I heard someone say her called the ref that twice and for ejected after the second one but I only personally witnessed him say it once and that was the one that got him tossed.

Honestly, there is a way to take the refs out of the game...don't suck. Don't give the refs a reason to slant against you - not that they ever should but it happens. Doggone it, play well throughout the season and be a team that gets the favorable calls.

Very true. But since that never happens for EMU in 15 years, it is frustrating to see.

RE: Game Week: CMU and @WMU
MAC Update:

Buffallo is on a tear since beating EMU. Beat Kent St on the road and are back in the hunt for the lead in the conference. They were the top ranked team coming out of non-conference, so maybe this was to be expected.

Northern Illinois have awoken since losing to EMU. They are up big on Central at home after having upset Toledo on the road earlier in the week. NIU will be tied for the 9/10 seed with Eastern. And a somewhat favorable remaining two games. Western at home and Ball St on the road. Eastern may need to win both of their remaining two in order to make use of their tie breaker.

Miami lost today. So are still only one game up for the 8th seed. Their remaining games are home vs Akron and a road game at Ohio. Winnable games, but Akron is decent and Ohio has pulled off some home wins. So no gauarantees if either of EMU or NIU win their remaining two.

It is now an officially pathetic season that I am rooting and hoping (praying?) for EMU to somehow pull off an 8th place finish.

No offense, but you also had a "private source" regarding Dominique Sherrer's injury in 2011 (you said you heard he was faking) which was absolutely untrue and completely unfair to the young man. Until a creditable source puts his name on it, I would stay away from rumors and "private sources." You are also implying he had a Ron English-like tantrum...that's getting into dangerous rumor territory.
