RE: Game Week: CMU and @WMU
EMU starts the game 2 - 0 because CMU dunked in practice.

EMU playing tough defense but having problems rebounding.

i honestly think there are more Central fans than Eastern fans here. it's compounded by the lack of the pep band.

CMU 0-8 from 3 so far. But they are destroying us on the glass. Murphy visibly frustrated.

Traveling, 5 second call, lack of rebounding lack of defense.

CMU about to run away with it. When you don't get rebounds, this stuff happens. Such a frustrating start.

bad offensive fouls. bad over the back. the past ten minutes have been a buffet of everything you're not supposed to do.

Finally attacking the interior. Simons wants no part of guarding anyone down low.

Talley knows he has to take over for us to have a chance to win.

Way to scrap back in it. Credit to Jerome Hunter and Mike Talley. Only down 5 at the half.

we were treated our 6 or 7th ten minute meltdown of the MAC season. i just dont get it. why does everything become so difficult during those stretches?

RE: Game Week: CMU and @WMU
At the half:

CMU shooting treys all over the place; CMU gets long rebound; shoots and misses again, but gets long rebound and finally scores.

At that point, there is a made bucket (3 shots, 2 offensive rebounds and one made trey) and NO EMU transition game.

Very few transition points.

We are fortunate to be getting a lot of points out of the half court offense.

Those fouls on Lee... UGH!!

See my post about being forced out of transition game.

We don't do well in the half court.

very true, but it's much more than that. it was a total meltdown until Talley rightly decided that he had to take over.

i dont think the traveling calls and defensive lapses were a product of a bad half court offense. i think the team panics and makes bad decisions in every facet of the game.

BTW, I disagree with some who have posted on rebounding in the zone or at least against the trey.

It seems to me that the defender is lunging out at the shooter. His momentum is taking him out of position for long rebounds (the shooter is moving toward the basket; the defender away from the basket).

Advantage to the shooter.

also true, but we routinely have 2-3 guys huddled under the basket on threes, and that's the least likely place to rebound a missed three.
