Maybe it's something to do with the sandstorms and tumbleweeds.
Or too close to Roswell, NM.
You don't know your geography, but that's still funny!
Lubbock to Roswell = 174 miles. Too close for some.
A blink of the eye in hyper-space.

In the top 150 Texas has:
12 Texas
20 Texas A&M
46 UT_Dallas
117 Texas Tech
132 Texas State
136 Houston
146 North Texas
Wake me up when Texas Tech makes the Princeton Review's Best Colleges in America list.
There are only four public schools in Texas on the list:
UT
A&M
UH
UT-Dallas
Why the obsession with Texas Tech?
Because Texas Tech was invited into the Big XII when the SWC broke up, and Houston wasn't. This is an old argument that will never end, unless one school - or the other - drops off the face of the Earth.

I'm new here and don't understand the hate. I lived in Houston for a little bit and never really heard anything about them from the media or fans.
Jealous maybe?

I don't know the history/dynamic, but there used to be a particular Tech poster on here, who really got under the skin of a lot of people.

JML was a symptom, not the cause.
It was the first part of his name, Raider. I've forgotten the rest of it. But somebody will remember.

No clue what you are saying but I hope I give Texas Tech a good name. Tech is a good school with loyal fans.

I can think of 3 public colleges on the Cornell campus that have #1 US News rankings (or thereabouts). Based on that fact, I question the accuracy of any ranking of public *colleges* that ignores Cornell. It should be far and away #1, or, at the very least, Cornell's statutory colleges should be #1. If you want to make an argument that Cornell isn't a public university, then sure. Go nuts. However, the list claims to rank colleges, and it is undeniable that Cornell has public colleges. Furthermore, the average of said colleges is unparallelled.

Yes, there's hate on all of these boards. Hate is the fuel to keep them going. And no school draws as much hate and fascination as UConn.

That's something that is unique to New York although Pennsylvania has a system with similarities as well. The vast majority view Cornell and Syracuse as private and Penn State as public.

Syracuse does not have any statutory components like Cornell and Alfred have......SUNY-ESF at Syracuse has it's own administration even though students can share facilities and classes and the ESF degree has Syracuse on it
the statutory colleges at Cornell and Alfred do not have their own administration outside of the main university
