And we foresee a day when we dream bigger. What, exactly, is your issue with that?

The small school mentality needs to go. Almost as badly as your curious habit of showing up to be negative the day the team wins a game.

If your not trying to improve your program then what's the point?

Just accept that we'll be at this level and always this level forever, clearly.

I guess Mullet thinks ALL beach schools should be content with mediocrity because they have a great view.

Do you mean "back" as if we had the trifecta before?

Leutze-Peg-Wainwright (then Brownell for 2 years) were a solid trio.

As long as the AD and HC are strong, which they are right now, all a Chancellor needs to do is let them do their thing.

Can't deny that. Luetze challenged uncw to grow and think big. The impact he made on the university was tremendous.

As much as I love Jimmy and the job he's doing, I sure wish we had Peg.

I agree that UNCW can be better but the fanbase needs to understand that they have some serious challenges to get there. The first and foremost is money or lack of it.Even in the heyday of UNCW basketball money was never free flowing and ultimately that is what drives the bus.Keeping the coach is just not going to happen and the need to replace coaches is also a big deal, maybe not right now but it will happen.

RE: The Cottonball challenge to Jimmy Bass
I don't know where this program will end up, but for now, the ship is being righted. More steps have been taken to strengthen the athletic dept as a whole than most people know. Sadly, track and field was a casualty of the steps taken. Tough decisions are being made that will anger some. But it is being done for the good of the whole. I have, for the first time in quite a while, met new donors who are on board, along with ex donors who are returning to the nest. The additions of needed facilities are happening. And it will not be an overnight thing. It's still all about the Bengamins.

I agree with the track and field decision-it is happening all over the country and I think more cuts are on the way.I am not really a Bass fan but he has done a little better job over the past year or so.The makeup of Wilmington and the alumni base are the problem with raising money and while I agree they can raise a little more money I think the ceiling is fairly low.

That's why it's been suggested that we target ALL of eastern NC. If we can win over donors in what has traditionally been ECU's turf the ceiling raises much higher.

It doesn't look like the track cuts are 100% finalized. WECT reported a statement will be released later today by the school about that but it looks like discussions are still ongoing.

They'll have some fundraising goals to meet. We'll see.
