RE: O'Leary not happy with UCF Schedule
Funny most of the people here complain about too many weekday games and now we have a coach that is complaining about not enough.

RE: O'Leary not happy with UCF Schedule
Options for multiple Thursday games are limited in 2015 and in any season with only 13 weeks before conference championship week.
Typically, a team is given a bye week prior to the week in which they play on Thursday. Because each team in a conference with a title game gets only one bye week in 2015, then a team can only play on one Thursday unless (a) they play on Saturday before their Thursday game -- no one is doing that this year, AFAIK, or (b) they play on two consecutive Thursdays following their bye week -- UCLA is doing that in 2015.
Fridays are an easier option, because teams are not given a bye week before a Friday night game. O'Leary only said he wants to play on Thursdays, though; he didn't say he wants to play on Fridays. That might be because high school coaches get ticked off about Friday night college games. (Of course, high school teams also play on Saturday afternoon and Saturday night now, and I don't hear high school coaches promising to not play on Saturday in exchange for colleges promising to not play on Friday. But that's a topic for another thread.)

ECU and Temple play each other on a Thursday night after playing games on Saturday.

I sounds like he has a problem more with P5 schools not playing at BHNS than anything else. That will not change unless they become P5.

O'Leary wants back to back to back Thursday night games. He would play the entire schedule on a Thursday night if UCF were the only game on tv. Kills the attendance numbers though, however students love Thursday night games.

Well He has a great point. Louisville Football made Thursday night games great viewing for ESPN. It does get viewers that have way too many choices on Saturday and satisfied the Can't wait for football Saturday urge. UCF & Cincinnati would be a Huge Thursday night Game on ESPN.

Not really....I hate the fact that Louisvile - Clemson is on a Thursday....don't like the fact that Thursday Night is now a NFL Night going forward...NOTHING TRUMPS the National Football League...

Well, I usually don't watch the NFL nearly as much anymore since My Dolphins have been miserable the last 10 or so Years. I do watch the Steelers when I get the chance though. But Yeah younger guys love the NFL, NBA. But I watch Thursday night College Football a Lot more than NFL.

ESPN seems to like the ECU-UCF matchup, as this will mark 2 years in a row they've put it on in prime time.
It's fitting from my perspective, since UCF seems to be our biggest rival in-conference at this point. Although that won't really be reciprocated since they've got USF in the conferences as well.

Just wish the Louisville - Clemson Game was either on a Saturday @ 3:30 or 7/8 on a Saturday on either ESPN/ESPN2/ABC...it would reach JMO a bigger National Audience then going head to head on against the NFL on CBS...it is going to get crushed in the TV Ratings...

Sadly, I think Friday will be the new Thursday for teams wanting to do the Va Tech/Louisville scenario. i have a feeling the NFL will try fot more Marquee games on cbs. Which stinks for HS football.
