EKU
Big game Thursday night (hope it is not postponed). I am curious what the conference tournament picture looks like if we win the game. Really hoping we get the double bye. What happens if Belmont and EKU have the same record at the season's end?

If we do beat EKU we will have a half game lead in the East with two games left at TTU and home vs TSU -- both of which we should win. Meanwhile, Eastern has three games (hence the half game lead) left vs APSU, JSU, and TTU, all at McBrayer. If we lose to EKU we would be a game and a half behind. Furthermore we would be tied with Morehead and UTM and EIU would have better records than us. Thus, a loss Thursday would likely mean no first round bye either, forcing us to play up to a potential of 4 games to claim a title. Teams like SEMO and Morehead would be scary first round matchups. Plus, I'd like to avoid Murray until a Saturday.

RE: EKU
Here is what I found from last year's tournament website.

Divisional Leader Ties
(a) Head to head record will be compared with the team having the best record named as divisional leader;
(b) Overall division records will be compared with the team having the best division record named as divisional leader;
© Overall record against opposite division opponents will be compared with the team having the best opposite division
record named as divisional leader;
(d) Records against the #3 finisher within the division will be compared with the team having the best record against the
#3 finisher named as divisional leader;
(e) If step d does not break the tie, the process continues through the #6 team if necessary;
(f) In the event that the tie cannot be broken, the divisional leader shall be determined by a coin toss.

Based on this I think EKU would still have the tiebreaker. If Belmont wins Thursday, both would have 3 divisional losses. If we both win out from there, it would fall to D as we would have the same losses to the West teams. With Morehead being the 3rd place team EKU would win the tiebreaker (2-0 vs 1-1). At least that is how I read it from last year. I'm thinking this year's rules will be the same, but you never know.

Thanks for the info. I doubt the rules have changed.

I'm amazed that we can play so bad and so good in the same half. Great win and Caleb was the difference maker last night.
We really need a win at Tech on Saturday. Hoping EKU will loose 1 of their last 3 games but they are all at home with weaker opponents.

It was good to see Caleb play fairly well.

RE: EKU
So...can anyone figure out if there's any chance we'll still get stuck playing on Wednesday in the tournament? I know if next Saturday is a win, we will not, but can't figure out all the possibilities if we lose (and I have some serious schedule rearranging to do if I need to be at the tournament on Wednesday!)

Looks to me also like the women will definitely be somewhere from 3 to 6, so will play their first tournament game on Thursday since there are no longer east/west divisions for them.

Yes it was. Hopefully it will carry through the tournament.

RE: EKU
I think we are guaranteed one bye since we hold tiebreakers against both Morehead and Martin.

RE: EKU
Best I can figure, if we win Saturday and EKU wins their remaining games, we will be the 3 seed. If we win Saturday and they lose one (or both) of their games, we will be the 2 seed. If we lose Saturday, there are a number of possibilities but the only way we'd finish below the 4 seed and play Wednesday is if EKU wins AND Martin beats Murray AND EIU beats Murray...so as long as Murray doesn't choose now to forget how to play, we should at least get the first bye.

And I gave myself a headache figuring all that...

RE: EKU
Well let's root on JSU tonight. If EKU loses we control our own destiny. With it being homecoming and a 2nd round bye on the line, I'm confident we would take down TSU on saturday. Regardless of the scenario we should put it to them.

RE: EKU
EKU lost to both Tech and JSU in away games earlier in the year so it's definitely possible.
