6'9"...first big ma we've offered in quite awhile. I expect any other offers this year will be big men as well. Guess this answers our question about who he would recruit. Have to believe they will go after a big who can play immediately.

So, I’ve never heard of an interim coach offering a scholarship. I’m assuming he’d have to get AD blessing to do that or no?
Anyone know how that works?

RE: Recruit Updates
Both players are juniors, so no help next year. But for sure tells you where his heads at. Would be nice to find two big men that can play next near. A hardship transfer that would come in as no more than a junior and maybe a grad transfer to play one year.
Looking at our roster, our guards suddenly look pretty good at those spots next year.

Idk if they need two transfer bigs. One for sure, but you already have a guy in Linnsen who can give you 20-25 minutes on any given night maybe more if he works on his conditioning. Dodd has proven he can play the 5 but I'd much rather see him become a 4 going forward. I could see the other scholarship going to a high school player... maybe a big with potential down the road or another ball handler to replace Kai. With Gadsden not being a true PG and his injury history that could be addressed. Jajuan Carr out of Pender County has been putting up some nice stats, I would like to see us get in on him.

Carr is a really good player but I doubt seriously UNCW has a chance with him at this point. He has a ton of offers now with more coming in . I have been watching him since his freshman year in high school and he is a hard worker on both ends and just gets better every time I see him. He is plenty good enough to play in the ACC-IMO.

We have gotten players good enough to play in the ACC in the past.... hell one is playing there now.

That is true but the situation at UNCW now is not great and without a named coach not many players are going for that. He is a senior with offers right now.

You're right that he probably is a P5 talent, which makes it even more odd to me that an ACC school hasn't offered him yet. If you check out his offer sheet, granted that VC is correct I don't see any school that jumps off that page as a better option than staying close to home and playing for the Seahawks.
Shy was a senior with offers at this point last year. We offered him late and got him...

RE: Recruit Updates
The 6 9 wing player from Millbrook is the kid we need to change this around. Another level of talent from anyone we have on roster right now. Being able to sign kids like these is the top quality the new coach needs to have

I have seen Felton and he is good, solid low post moves, good shooter and free throw shooter-average to below athlete. Not a great rebounder or shot blocker. The kid at Cape Fear Academy is as good or better but committed to Vermont.

Agreed. Another kid I was surprised we didn't go after. I believe he's from Canada so maybe a school up north was always going to be his move.

That might be true and Vermont is about 4 hours from Montreal. Millbrook has a whole team full of kids that can play and I like the other big kid better than Felton.

Hard to get playing time if the coach pulls the offer. Check the transfer portal, they are not transferring for a better education.
