We wrote an article a couple weeks ago, right before the Shrine Game. As of then, we've seen him projected as high as the 5th round, and of course as low as an UDFA.

Here's the article in case you missed it. Linked a couple good reads where people project/write about Tre and his abilities in the NFL:

RE: Tre and the NFL Draft
All of the talk during the shrine game from Mayock was also that Tre "made money" during the practices, etc.

As long as he doesn't bomb out at the combine, I'd be pretty surprised if he doesn't get drafted SOMEWHERE and I'd not be surprised with anywhere from 3-7.

RE: Tre and the NFL Draft
I saw anywhere from 3rd ~ 5th round for Tre. It will be largely influenced by how he does at the upcoming Combine.

RE: Tre and the NFL Draft
Realistically, where does everyone see him going? I'm thinking 5th round (as of right now before the combine) is a realistic possibility.

RE: Tre and the NFL Draft
Very difficult to project. Teams get enamored with guys sometimes, and if that happens 3rd round is possible. Expect he'll do well at combine. A fast 40 will help.

RE: Tre and the NFL Draft
If Tre can run 4.4 or so at combine, he should be good to go.

NFL Media draft analyst Lance Zierlein believes William & Mary senior WR Tre McBride needs to build on his solid week at Shrine practices "with a serviceable 40-yard dash at the combine."
"He had a solid week at Shrine practices and needs to build on that with a serviceable 40-yard dash at the combine, as his play speed and ability to get separation on the NFL level is in question," Zierlein wrote. Evaluators have observed that McBride doesn't stretch the field on vertical routes or after catch. Zierlein compares the William & Mary star's skill-set to New England Patriots' WR Brandon LaFell.

We have no fewer than 5 threads about Tre and the NFL. Maybe if this one is "stuck" at the top, we'll have a one stop shop location on the topic.

RE: Tre and the NFL Draft
from Steelers blog.

WR/KR Tre McBride (6'0 3/4" 205 - William & Mary). If for no other reason than he is of similar size and played the same position at Tomlin's alma mater. Tre is a better prospect than Coach T was, though, and he's supposed to run a pretty fast 40 even though it doesn't show up on film. Like Luckett, he has the potential to be a #4/5 WR type that could make it as a KR initially.

RE: Tre and the NFL Draft
from Charlotte Observer

'Tre McBride, WR, William & Mary: McBride dazzled at the Shrine Game in January and looks to keep that momentum up in Indianapolis. He’s not considered fast and is only 6-1, but he should get a bump if he runs something better than his posted 4.5 40 time.

RE: Tre and the NFL Draft
from NFL.com

Analysis

Strengths Good NFL size and physically dominated opponents when the ball was in the air. Makes circus catches look easy and appears fearless in the air. Elite high-point ability with outstanding body control, ball tracking and concentration. Plucks the ball out of the air. Excellent catch radius that saved his quarterback one or two incompletions per game. Will catch in traffic with ability to tuck-in, absorb blow and hang onto ball. Adjusts well to low throws. Competitive runner after the catch. Improved route runner from 2013 to 2014. Adjusts to find open space in zone and has feel for defender. Kick-return ability.

Weaknesses
Rumored to have blazing speed, but doesn't show up on tape. Rarely runs away from defense on vertical routes or after catch. Average acceleration off of release. Rounds off routes and won't get much acceleration out of breaks. Needs to improve selling routes. Balance at top of his routes is inconsistent because he will ride too high into cuts. Scouts say inability to separate is biggest concern for him.

NFL Comparison Brandon LaFell

Bottom Line Teams will have to answer questions about his level of ability to get open because he has the art of catching the ball down pat. Vertical speed and separation quickness appear to be average considering his competition level, so teams must figure out whether to keep him outside or utilize his size and toughness over the middle in the slot.

225 lbs bench 16 reps. Very impressive for a 200 lb receiver.

Tied for 10th of 30 Wide Receivers who lifted today. 3 guys had 23, 1 at 18, 5 at 17 and 4 guys at 16.
