I worked for the team for a bit and confirm the whole "diva" thing a little. But he's a receiver. He SHOULD think he's better than everyone else

Yep. What receiver isn't a diva in the NFL these days.

Feels like 50% of NFL players can't stay out of legal trouble. Who gives a crap if a receiver is a diva

RE: Tre and the NFL Draft
Article on underdogdynasty comparing McBride to Colston falling in draft:

So this draft pick reminds me a whole lot of Marques Colston. Colston was a big and talented receiver who came out of Hofstra University, and wound up lasting all the way until the 252nd pick when the Saints snatched him up. I distinctly remember one analyst who was high on him say that "pretty much the only legitimate knock against him is that he played at Hofstra."

While Colston hasn't exactly become Jerry Rice 2.0, the concerns about level of competition were clearly overblown. The same can be said for McBride, whose 4.4 speed and prototypical size will serve him well at the next level, no matter how much of a jump it is. He likely needs a fair amount of technique work in terms of route running and the finer points of receiving, but the Titans got a steal in a guy who was projected to go as high as the third round. Enjoy, Mr. Mariota.

IIRC part of why Colston dropped so far was the Hofstra staff dumped on him badly during pre-draft stuff.

RE: Tre and the NFL Draft
I read one report that says McBride dropped becasue of his personality issue. If it's that diva thing that someone said, then Michael Irvin should have been a free agent pick-up. Anyway he should have a good opportunity in Tennessee.

True. They picked up Hakeem Nicks and spent a high pick on the kid out of Oklahoma. Tre should get a fair shot and it's a nice bonus to be pretty close to home.

At least he'll have an opportunity to develop with Mariota.

I believe the high pick was on Dorial Green-Beckham out of Mizzou!

I believe you read this but I cannot imagine a team would consider this when thinking about picking a guy.

It had to be something else.

RE: Tre and the NFL Draft
Tre tweeted that nearly half of the NFL teams contacted him about joining them as a free agent. He also seems insulted by the diva comment.

No matter, I think he'll start for the Titans and his football dream has come true. A lot of talented players will never get an opportunity like this.

RE: Tre and the NFL Draft
He was actually from Oklahoma. He transferred there from Missouri, but never played.

Tre and the NFL Draft
His application for a waiver to not have to sit out was denied. Either way, same guy. A real talent but lots of potential baggage.

Clearly, Tre is using yesterday as motivation. I have never seen anything like it. I could see the teams that didn't feel they needed a receiver passing on him, but at least 10 teams took other lower rated guys(like the Redskins, for example). The 40th rated receiver going before him, ridiculous. He should have a chance though given the weak core of receivers in Tennessee. It worked for Tom Brady and for Marques Colston.

Mel Kiser this morning said he likes Tre more than Beckham who was taken 5 rounds earlier.

RE: Tre and the NFL Draft
Almost would have been better for Tre if he had gone undrafted at that point -- might as well be able to pick your team and have control over where you go. Tennessee isn't a terrible situation though. And another Tribe player drafted is always a plus.

Tennessee is a great situation for him. Chance to break into some playing time right away, and with a pretty good QB coming in at the same time. The reaction from the Titan's fanbase seems great too.

Sure, and I think Titan fans understand they're rebuilding so there won't be a lot of pressure to succeed right away.

I blame it on Jay Colley. He just wanted Tre on his beloved Titans. 05-stirthepot
