RE: CAA POY Watch
It may come down to which team wins the CAA. Spruill usually plays at the 4, so he is going to have more rebounds and less scoring opportunities than a player who controls the ball. Same for assist opportunities that he doesn't have like ball control guards. So, those may be a wash. However, at only 6'4", his rebounding is pretty impressive.

It will be hard to take it away from the pre-season favorite when Thornton is meeting expectations and the Tribe are in contention for a CAA title.

Lee gets his, but he is the team. Then again, that may be a reason he gets the votes. Can't help but be impressed when a great player produces on a mediocre team.

Right now, i'd give the nod to Thornton. But if Spruill can repeat what he did at W&M, and UNCW can win and go on a run to the CAA championship, he may be a surprise contender.

RE: CAA POY Watch
In my mind there's really only 2 candidates. Lee and Thornton. Both are borderline NBA-caliber players.

Thornton, of course, has the inside track being on the 1st place team. Him being 2nd in scoring AND 3rd in assists is just plain nuts. I wonder how far ahead of the pack he'd be in the "points created" category if there was one.

Drexel would have to make a real run for Lee to earn the award. He's accounting for about 40 % of their scoring, which is insane.

Tarpey is still the DPOY in my mind.

I'm hoping at least one of our guys makes the 1st-team All-CAA team, but Jackson and Spruill are kind of hurting each others' candidacy by taking turns being the scoring leader on any given night. It's fine by me, because much like W&M, the Seahawks have a lot of ways to beat you. That bodes well come CAA Tournament time, which is the real prize.

RE: CAA POY Watch
Looking at the CAA-only numbers, Spruill's candidacy for POY is more solid, and it solidifies him as a CAA 1st teamer if he keeps it up. 4th in scoring AND 2nd in the league in rebounding at the guard position? Outstanding.

Also, this would be my CAA 1st and 2nd teams right now:

First Team

Marcus Thornton, W&M
Damion Lee, Drexel
Terry Tarpey, W&M
Addison Spruill, UNCW
Scott Eatherton, NU

Second Team

Juan'ya Green, Hofstra
Omar Prewitt, W&M
Ron Curry, JMU
Ameen Tanksley, Hofstra
Freddie Jackson, UNCW

Hard to leave John Davis off, however. Things will change over time, I imagine.
