That high school offense

Matter of fact, our AD's first choice would have been Monken if he were available.

We were and will be in the future very close to running the flexbone.

Monken may be looking for a job when your coach finally leaves. I would love for you guys to land him. His return trip to Paulson would be a very warm welcome home...

In the 70's App came across a QB who could really sling it and Coach Brakefield along with OC Fisher Deberry (yep that one) "broke the bone" and were very successful throwing the ball. For the first time, possibly ever, Johnson has a QB who can not only run the option almost to perfection, but is an excellent passer. That combination makes that offense deadly.

Did you miss Greg Hill ? 03-wink

If I'm not mistaken, at the time, Greg was the 3rd QB to both run and pass for 3000 yards in his college career (which still isn't an easy feat to accomplish). Tracy Ham and Willie Taggart were the previous two. He was a very underrated passer, but that happens because he was a prolific runner and also had Adrian Peterson in the backfield overshadowing a lot of Hill's offensive accomplishments.

I know Armanti got there as well.

Believe me I remember Hill, but it is of him running up and down the field. Think he ran for something like 400 yards in three games against us. Didn't realize he threw for that many yards. Thanks for bringing up some bad memories! 03-banghead

JR was good, but no, not better. Opposing coaches back then said Hill was so scary it made it hard to key on Peterson. And vice versus.
