Why we are fans.
Arkstfan nails it in an excellent article that goes over the history of Arkansas State, and why we are fans. I'm sharing this here because the same argument and story can basically apply to all of us who cheer for an SBC school.

RE: Why we are fans.
There are some points there that run very similar to NMSU. For years in NM a school got more money based on how much square footage it occupied. UNM went so nuts with that. One of their extension campuses has an extension campus of its own. The current Governor got rid of that, now it is how many students you graduate.
At NMSU we get confused with being Texas A&M (same name, similar colors). We get sued by Oklahoma State just about every 5 years because of logo developed over 50 years ago, one that is no longer in use except for throwback memorabilia. I have watched the State of NM give UNM whatever they want for money to fund Athletics, yet they do no better then NMSU. It just goes with being a fan of NMSU.
I am happy and proud to be associated with NMSU. I have only been a fan for about 10 years. I am proud to be an underdog. I hope to someday get back to Las Cruces.
