Anyone else going to Chapel Hill?
I'll be there in Green & Gold. I haven't bought a ticket, with it being the holidays, I assume I can get a better seat on the secondary market than I can at the box office. Since I only need one ticket, my wife gave up on going with me to Tribe games a long time ago, I hope to get a good seat.

This will be my first game in the Dean Dome, since the NIT game was in Carmichael.

It will probably be ugly, but the boys will be wearing green and representing my #1 alma mater. Go Tribe!

PS: Meeks will kill us.

My best intention to be there at this point....Davidson grads in the family lobbying hard for me to go to Davidson/UVA in C-ville instead...

Tough choice. I have been going to Davidson games since 1998. UVA is, regretfully, really good this season. Davidson can only win if they can keep out of horrific foul trouble inside, get some rebounds and shoot over 50% on 3s. This is about the same formula that the Tribe needs to beat the Tar Holes. UNC isn't as good as UVA, but Davidson is better than the Tribe. I just hope UVA doesn't take W&M seriously, but I think they will.

UNC killed Davidson inside. Coach McKillop wouldn't show us tape of the UNC game the other week at the annual Fast Break Club night with the coaches, because he said the team has improved so much since then. Davidson just couldn't slow down the UNC big men, and Davidson is bigger and more skilled inside than the Tribe is, it could be really ugly. The Tribe is going to have to play a lot of zone and yet still double in the post and just pray UNC isn't hot from 3.

Go Tribe!

I'll be in Chapel Hill Tuesday evening with the wife, oldest daughter and her boy friend. Her bf got tickets from a friend, so we won't be in the tribe section. I'll be the one cheering when everyone around me is quite and vice versa...

I just hope we have to something to cheer about. I remember seeing the Tribe play Maryland @ Cole Field House when Lefty was still coaching the Terps. I think it was 1983-1984 season. The Tribe got a lead at 17-15 and my wife and I were going nuts, actually they were still the Indians then and I even did the war whoop and all that. It got real ugly, real fast after that. That story reminds me of why my wife no longer goes to Tribe games with me........

On Comcast Mid-Atlantic Network, including Williamsburg if you have Direct TV.

RE: Anyone else going to Chapel Hill?
While I would love to see the upset tonight, I am just hoping for a "representative" game.

Looking ahead, there is a fairly large problem that I see, however, going into League play on Saturday. While a few on this board have pumped up up the 8 man rotation and the talented freshmen, in truth, we are a 5 man team.

While I certainly believe and greatly hope that the youngsters will eventually be productive, right now, that's just not happening. Our starting five are "solid" (capable of 16-20 wins, with some help from the bench) and occasionally "exceptional" (capable of 20-24 wins, with some bench help), but the bench has, to date, shown no notice that it can be relied on for much offensive support.

That 3 man, first off the bench group is responsible for 20% of the total minutes played, but only 12% of the scoring overall (8.6 ppg). That number reduces to only 6.6 ppg when you remove the two DIII games. That is not going to cut it in League play. Most teams, that I randomly checked, had a couple bench players averaging 7.0 - 8.0 per game, by themselves (or closer to 15 ppg for their first three players off the bench), not combined. This includes tonight's opponent, UNC.

The biggest concern for the Tribe, in league play, could be foul trouble and fatigue. There is no one who has really shown the ability to play consistently productive offensive minutes, if forced to take over due to early foul trouble, or (heaven forbid) injury. Due to that, the Tribe starters have played heavy minutes and gotten fatigued as the game wore on (Richmond, High Point, for example), with less than positive results.

I certainly believe that there will be growth by the youngsters, but it is time for the FOTB (first off the bench) guys to start stepping up offensively. I hope it is this week.

This is a great post. During out of conference play our most glaring deficiency was our lack of depth. Couple that with our inexplicable ability to pick up a bunch of fouls early and often and we could be in a lot of trouble during what should be winnable games.

Well, we haven't even tipped off and the Debbie Downers are already bracing themselves for a bashing - and unbelievably, concern within the CAA schedule before we even played a conference game.

Guys, it's ok to be positive.

I only see two outcomes tonight:
1) Oh well, we lost to nationally ranked Carolina...
2) HOLY **** - WE JUST BEAT THE HEELS!!

Why the concern?

I really wish Prewitt had improved over last year on defense, but he still looks lost out there. Dixon may be the second best player on the team right now behind Marcus.

Really wish we weren't throwing so many lazy passes. As others said, this is a good experience game - we won't see another team like this for the rest of the year.
