RE: Troy adds charleston southern to 2015 schedule
Yes GS has seen first year head coaches come from position coaching to win 10 in a first season so I for one wouldn't count Troy out next year.

CSU is not a easy out, their coach gets his guys up for games even though their talent level isn't all too high. Chadwell will likely be coaching at the FBS level very soon, he has won everywhere he has been and yes that wife of his is a smoke show. I'm a bit lazy this morning otherwise I would attach the pics here.

Arkansas State was in a whole different situation than Troy is in. Aransas State's Roberts actually recruited decent players. He just couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper poke.
Blakeney at Troy hasn't been able to recruit since 2008 when the NCAA put a cap on recruiting classes at 28. Blakeney would always oversign by 10-12 and have 35-37 in a class and come back and get those that made it one or two years later. He never learned how to recruit the way most do.
With just a lil over a month until signing day 247 has Troy with 5 commitments. That's not good waiting around to have almost your whole class commit in the last 3-4 weeks.

Nobody really knows, HUD came in, took over a 3-9 team, we were picked to finish dead last in FBS and he won 9 games and a bowl game. If brown gets the kids to buy in from day 1, they will win some games.

To make things simple I could say Blakeney just sucked. But he didn't until the NCAA capped recruiting classes at 28. Troy has to be one of the hardest places in IA to recruit to just because of its remoteness. About the only other places I could see that would be harder is Idaho, EMU and maybe Buffalo.

I can think of serveral things that had much more of an impact than recruiting caps. Take it or leave it:
1) The emergence of Georgia State and South Alabama as not only football programs that did not exist before, but D-1/FBS programs, the decision for Georgia Southern to move FBS football, and UAB beginning it's rise out of the ashes. All of these occurring at the same time the NCAA put a cap on recruiting. Three brand new FBS programs right in troy's backyard hurt recruiting way more than recruiting caps ever did.
2) Troy's decline and the initiation of recruiting caps came about the same time the rest of the league decided to switch to the spread. Troy was able to take advantage of the league in 2006-2010 because no one in the league ran it, and no one could stop it. Troy's advantage went away when everyone else started running the spread. The league simply got better in 2011, the year Troy dropped off. Lousiana hired Hudspeth, Freeze (Ole Miss) began at Arkansas State that year as head coach. Malzhan followed him. Western Kentucky went from 2-10 to 7-5 under Taggart, a good coach for WKU.
3) Simply put, Larry was on his last leg of his career, compound that with the other two and you have a Bobby Bowden situation. I doubt anyone would say he sucked. It happens to everyone who coaches that long, unfortunately. 45 years is a long time.

Yeah he sucked pretty bad but I seem to remember the last two times we faced the mighty Herd.

They did lose to ACU. lol
We might have been bad last year. But we played the worst game of the year that game. We would have beaten ACU any other week IMO.
And yes we have a tough OOC schedule next year
Mississippi state, Wisconsin, NCSU and charleston southern
NCSU is beatable.... Miss state and Wisconsin are probable losses.
Uh, Mississippi State and Wisconsin are probable losses? Ya think? How about adding NC State? Those three will make three SURE losses.

NCSU is beatable. We have beaten tougher schools before.
Nothing is a sure win or loss.

That's why you play the games...in case one of those SURE losses turns into an improbable win.
