Fact or Green Wave flotsam?
Quote:interesting phone call form my friend at ESPN...seems that ESPN received a document demanding that the term/name "Louisiana" not be used when referring to the University of Louisiana @ Lafayette...that the University is known as the University of Louisiana Lafayette and needs to be addressed / referred to as such. That further references singular in use as Louisiana would result in a lawsuit in federal court in accordance with FCC regulations. I am not an attorney, and I do not play one on TV, so I wonder who filed this document ?

I believe you'll find that the original document came to Louisiana by way of Statesboro . . . 05-stirthepot

I'm calling BS on this story. #1, it is from Tulane's website. #2, who gives a rat's ass if a Federal lawsuit is threatened. There has to be substantial harm caused for any legal penalties to be brought forth, and other than ULM fans' butts getting further chapped by UL using "Louisiana", there is no substantial harm.

Agreed, and you know what, the ULM people hardly give a rat's ass any more. They've settled on ULM and are happy with their branding.

It's the fans of Louisiana Tech University at Ruston who get all hot and bothered.05-stirthepot
