I agree. I think that's the reason the majority of the coaches and players haven't split. I suspect they believe - and I do too - that this atrocity will be corrected in the next couple of weeks. The PwC financials for FY2014 (which ended 9/30/14) shows the athletic department made a slight profit and the football program definitely didn't loss any money. Fellows, that was the 2013 football season! Attendance doubled this year. Revenues out to be significantly higher! Plus the support has stepped forward and will bank roll this program if given a chance. #SAVEUABfootball #FreeUAB #FireRayWatts

You think we'll be able to hang on to enough players? Is there a way to get around the 25 scholarships per year recruiting limit if you don't have 85 people on scholarship?

Honestly, at this point, I could handle a 0-12 season due to a low number of players. As long as UAB football is reinstated and Coach is retained! I't wouldn't surprise me that Coach would still find a way to 6 wins with 60 players. They are just willing to go beyond their limits for him and his staff.

Me too. Not having a football team at all, even for just one year, is going to be a huge lifestyle adjustment for me.

RE: Clark to Auburn
I want to believe that we will have football again, but it is getting increasingly harder to believe that we will field a team in 2015. The assistant coaches are bailing, players are bailing, coaches & (apparently Mackin) are trying to find homes for all student-athletes affected by "Watts' decision".
So far, we have lost our OC to USA, WR coach to Troy, starting QB to USA, and a handful of other players have committed to go to other schools. Certainly, if football came back tomorrow, these guys could be replaced. With each passing day we will lose more players and coaches.
I would love to see football reinstated this afternoon and everyone come back for a magical 2015 season, but Watts is the one thing standing in our way at the moment. Maybe he will be visited by 3 ghosts tonight or Cousin Eddie can talk some sense into him.

Watts has been hung out to dry by the BOT. He thought that he had their backing but now realizes that he was the fall guy.
He certainly has no one to blame but himself.
Hopefully as he gets closer to the end of the road he will decide to save a little face and spill the beans on what he knows.
I still have my doubts though.

I look at it a little differently. I think he knows he has the full backing of the board whispered in his ear. Unless he truly has some delusional pathology he knows (or believes) they won't fire him. No one in their right mind would take the route he's taken unless they knew something the rest of us don't.

Football has cost 3 UAB presidents their jobs: McCallum, Reynolds, and Garrison.
Now, God-willing, a fourth, Ray Watts.
The difference is, the first three went down standing up for their students. When the fourth goes down, it will be an inside job.
Who do you think is least likely to get the statue in the minipark?

Oh, he deserves a statue... One with him standing there while a dragon hikes its leg and whizzes on him... And it's a fountain, so there is a steady stream.

Back when the Air Guard had an annual open house, I went to the rest room and there were pictures of Jane Fonda in each urinal. Bama has porcelain elephants in their locker room waterfall, UAB can have porcelain figures in theirs as well, just located differently.
In regard to Clark not being hired away - it may be that the two years left on his contract may provide cushion for him to wait for that next great opportunity. He is not going to be grabbing at straws for awhile.
