Nevada appears to be a tough matchup, but I have faith in the Cajuns. Bring it home for the belt.

If y'all aren't happy about it, I know a team that would love the chance to play no matter who it's against.

I'm hoping that some of the football minds here can tell me exactly how we'll match up against Nevada.........their strengths and weaknesses versus ours.
And yeah, I posted that sigline at the beginning of the season and will leave it until our bowl game is completed. Sort of reminded me of how far we've come and what we expect of our coaching staff and team.
Good luck to all Sunbelt bowl-bound teams this year!

We are happy!. We will play anyone in post season. The team worked hard for the opportunity to play in this game.
We were actually co-champs with Nevada in the 90s when we were in the Big West with them. Jake Delhomme, former Carolina Panther QB, was our QB. The Big West had 1 bowl tie with the Las Vegas bowl. Nevada got the bid since they beat us head to head.
So it will be a rematch!

A fair point. I'm not football mind as you say, but a glance at their schedule indicates they've had some very close games with some really good teams. They could have easily won those games. They seem like a tough opponent for that reason.

Record: 7-5 (4-4)
5 losses were to Arizona, Colorado St, Boise St, Air force, and Fresno St.
They average 30 ppg while giving up 28 ppg
Common opponent Boise St
BSU vs UL 34-9
BSU vs Nevada 51-46
Nevada has a 7-5 overall record, defeated a Pac-12 opponent in Washington State, won four road games, defeated four conference opponents and returned the Fremont Cannon to Reno with a victory over UNLV.
Nevada and Louisiana rank within three spots of each other nationally in both scoring offense and scoring defense. Both offenses begin with the rush attack as the Cajuns average 229 yards on the ground per game and Nevada averages 215. The New Orleans Bowl will feature a 1,000-yard rusher in UL’s Elijah McGuire, while Nevada will counter with three rushers over 620 yards on the season. Both teams are quarterbacked by seniors. Senior Cody Fajardo leads Nevada as one of two players in FBS history with over 9,000 yards passing and 3,000 rushing in a career. The Ragin’ Cajuns are led by three-year starter Terrance Broadway.
Will have more info on them later. It will be a rematch of our co-championship in the Big West conference in 1995 when Jake Delhomme was the Cajuns QB. Nevada got the Las Vegas bowl bid and the Cajuns were left out because they beat us head to head

Nevada accepts New Orleans Bowl bid
RENO, Nev. -- The 2014-15 college football bowl season will kick off with Nevada and Louisiana Lafayette in the 14th annual R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 20. The Wolf Pack (7-5) will meet the Ragin’ Cajuns (8-4) at 8 a.m. (PT) on ESPN from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
“I am very excited that our players and staff will have one more opportunity to compete together at the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl,” said Nevada’s second-year coach,Brian Polian. “The game presents us a chance to pursue an 8th win on the season and also serves as a reward for our players, who have worked so hard this year. This bowl also gives our young people a chance to spend some time in New Orleans and continue to enjoy the opportunities and experiences that being a football player at the University of Nevada provides.Nevada is making its 14th bowl appearance in program history, its ninth bowl trip in the past 10 years and the first under second-year head coach Brian Polian.
The Wolf Pack will make its first appearance in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. Nevada is 1-0 against the Ragin’ Cajuns all-time with the lone meeting in the series history resulting in a 38-14 Pack victory in Sept. 2, 1995. “The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns are going to be a great opponent in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl,” Polian said. “They are very athletic across the board and have an explosive offense. Coach Hudspeth has done a tremendous job leading their program to multiple bowl games and I have no doubt that we will have our hands full. This should be a very exciting challenge for our players and coaches.”After seeing its bowl streak snapped at eight games in 2013, the Wolf Pack responded with a positive campaign under Polian.
The R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl made its debut in 2001. Louisiana Lafayette has played in the bowl game in each of the past three years, defeating Tulane by a 24-21 margin in the most recent installment of the bowl game.

They run the same offense we do but better at execution. QB is athletic. OL is good. Not sure about their defense.

Nevada's Senior quarterback Cody Fajardo must be good to be one of two players in FBS history with over 9,000 yards passing and 3,000 rushing in a career.
With our pass defense, it will definitely be a challenge to stop him. We need to blitz more than just rushing 3 and letting him get comfortable. He needs to be picking himself off the ground as often as possible.

RE: Cajuns vs Nevada in New Orleans
NEVADA BREAKDOWN
Season highlights: Anytime a Mountain West team knocks off a Pac-12 team, it’s a quality win. So when the Wolf Pack downed the visiting Washington State Cougars in Week 2, it was a big moment. A week later, they played Arizona, the eventual Pac-12 South champs, to a tight, 35-28 loss. However, a pair of come-from-behind road wins – at BYU and at Hawaii – put them on the road to bowl eligibility.
Season lowlights: Nevada killed itself with four turnovers in a 51-46 shootout loss to Boise State at home. A week later, it dropped another home game in a one-touchdown loss to Colorado State. Yet the Wolf Pack still had a chance to clinch the division at home against Fresno State, but faltered in a 40-20 loss.
Strength: Nevada's strength is their rushing game, 215.2 (32nd) Rushing yards per game and 197.8 (90th) Passing yards per game. Overall offense (58th).
Weakness: Nevada's weaknesses are their pass defense, giving up 271.0 (108th) Passing yards per game and 179.1 (79th) Rushing yards per game. Overall defense is 104th
Player to watch: There are only two quarterbacks in college football history to pass for 9,000 yards and rush for 3,000. Nevada quarterback Cody Fajardo is one of them. The other? Former Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick. So far this season, Fajardo has accounted for 31 touchdowns -- 18 in the air and 13 on the ground.
Motivation: Nevada hasn’t won a bowl game since topping Boston College in the 2010 Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl. They got dumped by Southern Miss in the 2011 Hawaii Bowl and lost a heartbreaker to Arizona in the 2012 New Mexico Bowl. After failing to qualify for a bowl game last year, there is plenty of motivation for the Wolf Pack to get back on the winning side of things.

RE: Cajuns vs Nevada in New Orleans
Nevada will be tough. The Cajuns will have to bring their A-game to beat them. Good luck to your team, and good luck to your fans with that 10AM kickoff. Whoever made that decision has never spent an evening on Bourbon Street.
