Respectfully, no, it's not. It's comprised of teams that are considered a step up in football and in basketball, some that are frontline. It is certainly NOT the MAC.

I know you do and that's fine. However most observers won't see it your way. That's all. I'll take the AAC step, you don't see it. OK.

I am wondering.....if NIU did leave for the AAC would Maddawgz demand Frazier return NIU to the MAC? He often overrates the MAC and underrates other conferences. Would he begin to overrate the AAC?

Maybe it would be a step up its really hard to tell. If it is a step up, it is by such a small and immeasurable amount, that I just don't see the reason to be travelling all over the country for that, with no real improvement in your standing.

You would be the first person to call the MAC garbage if NIU went to the AAC.

Dude, it is such a step up.
AAC is so so much better at basketball than the MAC it's unreal. Football is better. Their crap teams may be as bad as the macs crap teams, but their top teams are better than the MACs.
Not only that, the exposure and recruiting areas are leaps and bounds better than anything the MAC offers. Even more so now that NIU really isn't even recruiting Ohio or Michigan very hard. Getting to recruit football in Dallas, Tampa, Orlando, etc is way better.
Also, this may be a small thing, but NIU would be getting more eyes. Those teams all play in major cities, with beat writers for larger newspapers. Having people read about you in the Dallas Morning News, the Orlando Sentinel, Tampa, etc. is way better than having six teams in one state getting your name in the Cleveland plain dealer.

Think of that. Their worst bowl is playing a team NIU is already used to playing weekly. Their second worst bowl is against a conference that's equally as bad as the MAC.
Even if NIU went like 7-5, they'd get to play a Power 5 school.
Put that in perspective, over the past 7 bowls (including this season even though not announced) NIU will have played one Power 5 team in a bowl and that's cuz they went to the BCS. They could go 11 wins or better in 5 seasons and will have played two MWC teams, the same SunBelt team twice, and FSU. That's a joke, even if NIU didn't win all these bowl games.

Well, the MAC CHAMPION had better beat the Sun Belt's 4th best team, or that will show the nation that we were overmatched. Then, next year maybe they'll try to help the MAC by letting us play the Sun Belt's 6th best team.

How do you know the MAC Champion won't play the CUSA champion in Boca? Would that satisfy you?
