Since scheduling is set for the rest of the 2014-2015 school year, I would suppose the conference will take its time about deciding what they will do about us. Some have indicated our departure is automatic but some have wondered if that is so. In either case, it is not something they must do right now.

UAB is certainly in no hurry for a decision as it would force UAB to start making decisions of its own - decisions that may affect our other coaching staffs and many players in several sports.

Without football his statements are futile. I'm sure they do need us but without a football program UAB athletics ranks somewhere between Jeff State and Miles College. Jeff State dropped all sports and at least Miles has some form of football. Samford has now become the major player in the metro area. Oh how far we have fallen.

I don't see where it matters what crappy conference we end up in. Here I was like a big fool thinking that in a couple of years Haas and Clark would have us playing so well that we could move UP in conference affiliation not DOWN. Last person out of the building please turn out the lights.

He has written me two personal emails. Not cut and paste. Addressed my very specific concerns and sent very late at night the very day football was officially cut. Responded to my generic email with specificity and I immediately responded back with a follow up and within two minutes a new response was back in my inbox. His emails were not written as someone who was Watts water boy. I am not going to publish the private emails. I was impressed with the promptness of response and his personal addressing of my concerns.

Cut him some slack. This was a mass email. This is more than Mackin gave us.

Shannon is a True Blazer. I hope he stays around.

Give Ealy a chance. He just got dealt a horrible deal. He couldn't stay silent, but he has no good news either. He was sympathetic to our pain (which he feels too), but he promises to get to work moving forward (which is our only option).

So it sounds like what we have is a nice guy who is now the acting captain of the Titanic. He can think the same way we do but the ship is still doomed. Just another quality person trapped in a dead job in a dying city.

I take no issue with it and I do not question what color Shannon bleeds.

I heard and read the same "bleeds green and gold" stuff about Brian Mackin for a decade.

My question to Ealy: When did you know? Did you tell anyone that could take it public? Another month to fight could have made the difference between survival and extinction.

This has been in the works for over a year. ANYONE that knew this was coming yet stayed silent is a traitor to Gene Bartow, the fans, and every player that has ever worn the jersey.

Nothing associated with UAB athletics should be moving on. This means the death of UAB and Blazer athletics as we have known and loved them. If they really care about UAB they should all walk out of Bartow, lock the doors behind them, and join the student protests.

Exactly. Some of our biggest problems have come from folks who like their pay checks more than standing up for what is right. Integrity has been redefined at UAB into something I don't recognize.

Ealy's good people. He's been handed a great big **** sandwich to each, and he's trying to choke it down with as much grace as he can.

I replied to his email and my feelings were clear, but I was not ugly to him.
