Rotation Speculation
Coach Shaver seems to have settled on his "ideal" rotation of 8. Whitman's recovery from his medical issues and the emergence of Malinowski means that the rotation has the classic balance: 3 guards, 2 centers and 3 forwards.

It is interesting to speculate what Shaver would do if he had to go to a 9th man. After all, it is extremely unlikely that a team goes all season without injuries.

If an extra guard is needed, I assume you simply plug Tot in. If the extra player needed is in the front court ...

Prior to the season, I assumed we would see a lot of 3 guard lineups. It would seem quite possible to slide either Dixon or Tot to small forward.

If the extra man needed is a forward, I guess the options are to plug in Schalk, go to 3 guards or maybe even Rowley.

If the extra man needed is a center, I guess the options are the same: plug in Schalk or go to 3 guards (and slide Tarpey to center). Coach Woollum did make an interesting statement in the last radio broadcast - he thinks Dixon could defend at center.

RE: Rotation Speculation
If we lose a big man I definitely think we'd go to a three guard set

RE: Rotation Speculation
I think Tarpey would be a better choice to guard a center. I think his arms are longer which can help deny passing lanes, because once a bulky center gets the ball it will be difficult for either of them to be effective.

RE: Rotation Speculation
We're pretty much in a 1 guard lineup right now. Dixon and Omar play the 2-3 and Tarpey is a 3-4. We shift to a more guard-centric lineup when Schlotman and Malinowski come in, mostly because Omar and Daniel shift more towards the 4 than the 2. I don't think there's a set plan if we suffer an injury to Sheldon or Whitman. We'll play matchups depending on the opponent and depending on the hot hand. I think Coach Shaver would prefer to have Schalk step in as a reserve and keep the rest of the rotation the same, but it'll depend on how each game goes.

I hope we keep our current rotation; I'd like to see a little more Tot, but that's mostly for long-term. Our current rotation is working pretty well. I was a little surprised not to see Tot against Wofford, with all the foul trouble we got into.
