20 teams. Conference champs automatically get in, and then at large bids similar to march madness.

Top however many seeds get first rounds bye weeks. can't remember off the top of my head how many get byes

I would say conf champs are auto only if you are in the top 25. As much as I want to see the G5 get there are going to be a ton of teams better than a conf champ from whoever is the worst G5 at the time.

so you would have maybe only G5 team make it in a 20 team playoff bracket then. No way. You would have 5 P5 champs, 5 G5 champs, and 10 at large bids, all of which would go to P5 schools.

Under your scenario, we wouldn't have made it into the playoffs this year if it was structured this way.

I want the best teams in. G5 champs are not always deserving. If you are in a struggling conference winning should not automatically get you in over the 16th best P5. As much as I want the G5 to have more access I think it should be earned and not just handed to us.
Never played in the FCS, did you?
