Sure...but then ESPN can decide not to offer you any TV games other than the ESPN3 games, and you lose valuable program exposure.

People make fun of our ESPN2 deals on Tuesday Night, but at least we aren't the MAC. They play Tuesday and Wednesday home games in November, and their games this week got bumped to ESPN3.

If you hate midweek games, I suggest dropping back to FCS, because every G5 league has a midweek TV deal of some sort.
I watched them this week on ESPN2 and ESPNU except the Buffalo game which was impacted by the snow storm.

Maybe it was the week before, I just remember that they got one game bumped to ESPN3. I don't think it was two of the better teams going at each other.

MAC pays production costs for all their broadcasts, so at least we have that going for us.

Are you sure about that? I'm not sure you can turn it down. Espn has the contract. Remember a couple years ago when they moved our game up to 2:30 for TV? And it was 1500 degrees and everyone almost died? We didn't have a choice in that. If we did I promise you we wouldn't have agreed to move it up.

That was a Saturday game...the time was just moved up for television. I'll have to check with arkstfan to be sure, but I am pretty sure you can turn down a midweek home game.

I don't want to for sure, you can't even buy that kind of exposure. It also for us at least, having both Tuesday games has essentially given us almost 3 bye weeks. We get our regular by week, you play a Saturday get 10 days on the front end... Play 2 Tuesdays the get 10 days on the back end. So aside from hurting attendance and not being able to make San Marcos road trip, I like the Tuesdays for what it does for the program.

Great point - Louisiville built a program by playing on national tv anytime, anyplace they had the opportunity.

Y'all are talking about Thursday games which have been played for decades. Regarding the ESPN Thursday Night Showcase: Virginia Tech leads all programs with 26 home and away games combined followed by Georgia Tech with 24; Texas A&M and West Virginia at 19 each; Miami (Fla.) and NC State with 18; Louisville and Pittsburgh at 17; BYU at 16; and Mississippi State, South Carolina and Texas with 15.

Thursday night games makes sense because the loss of revenue due to reduced attendance can be justified by the exposure. However, I don't think that holds true on a Tuesday night game on ESPN U. If you are down 10k attendees on a Tuesday night, that is hundreds of thousands in lost revenue.

Personally, I would hate it. That's just a lost home game, IMO.

The Tuesday night games are on espn2 not espnU... Which is in every household that has basic expanded cable. I rather Tuesday night game on espn2 than Thursday on espnU. The NFL now plays every Thursday along with with other major programs. Tuesday night and you wanna watch football? Only 1 option. There are pros and cons to all of it but about 10 years ago the only option was to listen on the radio or hope that your money game opponent was televised. Tuesdays aren't perfect for sure but to build the brand if the conference and the teams in it, I don't see a better option.

Thursday night home game in Piscataway NJ saved the Rutgers football program. Defeating an undefeated #3 ranked Louisville and #2 ranked South Florida was epic for the Rutgers program. Without Thursday night games, Rutgers would have NEVER received invite to Big10.

The television exposure for these mid week games are great. Thursday night games don't do much when they are on ESPN 3 and a top 25 team is playing on ESPN. Tuesday night game is excellent exposure for Sun Belt teams who rarely get TV exposure on ESPN or ESPN2.

What's the Cajun won/loss record on Tuesdays and Thursdays? I'm thinking overall it's pretty decent and the extra days off seem to help the injuries heal.

4-2 on Tuesdays, I think 1-0 on Thursdays

I seem to remember reading that we lost the first one or two until the coaches came up with a better practice plan to prepare for the odd game day.

Have we lost any over the last couple of years? I think not.

RE: Question about next year's football schedule
3 years ago we lost both Tuesday games, 1 at UNT and the next at home against stAte...then have gone 4-0 since, beat wku,stAte and txst on road and stAte at home. Beat Troy on a Thursday I believe.

RE: Question about next year's football schedule
I am not against Ga. Southern having mid-week games, but 1 at HOME is enough. If we have a 2nd I hope it is on the road. Conventinoal wisdom says the Ga. Southern/App. game next year in Boone will be mid-week. If that is true I am hoping for a Thursday or Friday and not Tuesday. If it is on Tuesday I don't know how many Ga. Southern fans will be able to go.

It definitely impacts your home attendance as well as tailgating (if you have a big one like we do).
