RE: ULM at Georgia Southern discussion thread
My understanding is that once the Linesman marks the line of scrimmage, it doesn't matter if the chains are set, the umpire sets the ball and starts the clock.

It is also my understanding that the clock only stops when a player goes out of bounds within the last two minutes. I believe that you have to step out of bounds or be "downed" completely out of bounds. An arm or the ball doesn't count.

I'm not to sure because both college and pros slightly change their rules every two years.

Yes, that's the play.

I know the NFL changed their rules a few years ago to compensate for games running well over the 3 hours....which is set for TV schedules. Rather than reduce the number of effing commercials, they decided to reduce the number of times the clock is stopped! The explanation given previously on this page answers questions I've been having on this subject for some time. In some NFL games, you are lucky to get 4 offensive series per half! Ridiculous how much they have reduced the actual game time for the sake of $$$. 60 minutes on the clock - 12-15 minutes is average playing time. This means that the average player plays 6 minutes and 15 seconds, depending on how much time his offensive or defensive team is on the field.

College football is not quite as bad, but heading there in a hurry.

I don't see the clip under our game on espn. I guess I would have to watch the whole replay.

I'm not to sure because both college and pros slightly change their rules every two years.

At the 1:12 mark, the ULM receiver caught a short pass to the right sideline and he went totally out of bounds still standng since he was barely in bounds when he caught it. The ref gave the signal to keep the clock running. I think at first the ULM QB thought the clock was stopped because he was taking his time then when he noticed it was running he hurried. It looks like 20 something seconds ran off the clock. Just my observation.

If you curious what I'm talking about, you can catch the replay on ESPN3, fast forward to around 1:12. Maybe the clock was supposed to continue. If you check it out I'm curious to know. Maybe it's a college thing if your momentum takes you out of bounds maybe the clock doesn't stop, unlike purposely running out of bounds. I would like a clarification on the call for future games.

Congrats on the championship!

Only one loss between the two to established conference teams. Every team in the Sun Belt before this year then sand bags the hell out of both the Mountaineers and Eagles because they can't stand empirical proof that both programs were ready for the move up and the Belt wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

Add to that story that it's clear there are a number of fans of other SunBelt teams that have realized this year is the last one that they'll sniff a bowl game for the foreseeable future and so they are bitter. So very, very bitter. Thier bitterness tastes so wonderful.

Riddle me this, which teams from the Sunbelt would have gone to bowl games this year had APP and GS been fully eligible? I think we all know the real reason Tx State fans are being as whiny as they are...

03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao
...... You funny boy. also, none too bright . . . Our distain for you has nothing to do with business on the field, and we'll take care of that, thank you very much . . . . We simply have no use for your pompous, blowhard, obnoxious fan base.

You funny though, I'll give you that . . . . . 03-lmfao

Uhhh... you completely missed the point of my post. Perhaps it would be best for you not to call others dumb. Glass houses, ya know.

Here I'll spell it out for you. 1. SIX teams in the SB would be eligible for bowl games this year if GS and APP weren't on double obvious probation. 2. Of those SIX teams most travel well and bowl games would love to have them. 3. Of those SIX teams, how many of them are considerably closer to the current and future SunBelt tie-ins than TxSu?

Face it, from here on out there is pretty much always going to be a more interesting team for Bowls to choose over TxSu. You'll pretty much have to win the SB to sniff a bowl. Even in years where you're 8-4, 7-5 there will be more appealing options to Bowl committees.

. . And that's just your opinion, Don't make it so, you still funny though . . . 03-lmfao

Soo...

KE is a machine, and the first player to run down the sideline and greet him? The 3rd string QB that led us to victory, what a class act.

Youtube is not your typical 3rd string QB... He was a man on a mission when he came in, the offense just looked quicker. I'd had to have let him pile in behind 58 and 96 on that 4th and 2 call, I don't think he'd been denied.

I just thought this thread didn't have enough gifs posted.

(Can't believe it's still being discussed)
