Got an email saying that there is a branding push for UNCW. That true?

E.g. - do you guys prefer the board be renamed UNCW instead of the present UNC Wilmington?

UNCW. Hands down.

Part of the school's "branding" problem is that they haven't been internally consistent in using the term, and therefore neither have others. I guess this is what happens when academics attempt to implement a business strategy. They try to make a horse, and instead produce a two-humped camel.

They need to just use "UNCW" (as does UCLA, UNLV, IUPUI, etc) and quit all the alternative monikers. That includes, by the way, our new men's basketball coach.

UNCW. This is the branding being implemented by the University media specialist. Your help is appreciated.

That's wonderful. Now let's see whether the employees of the University actually follow the branding strategy that their media specialist is implementing. Their past history is pretty dismal in that regard.

Please note that we are referred to as "UNCW", "UNC-Wilmington", "NC Wilmington", "NC-Wilmington", and "UNC Wilmington" - ALL ON THE SAME PAGE!

This has been going on for years. Our fine new head coach constantly refers to the school as "UNC Wilmington" (at least I think he's mentally leaving out the hyphen).

The SID needs to get a platoon of interns and crank out e-mails and make phone calls to correct any publication that refers to us as anything other the "UNCW", and there needs to be a 'swear jar' that fines anyone on the payroll who refers to the school by any other name as well.

For what its worth I announce all Seahawk sports teams as UNCW. Just doing my part, haha.
