RE: Travel savings from SOCON move
I figure most of the athletics dept. savings will go toward football ("scholarships...equipment"). But I would like to see some more put into men's basketball to support the move to FH. I heard that season ticket sales actually grew over last year because of price increases, despite many not renewing tickets (now requiring a donation per seat right? By the way, is that not a little dodgy? Thinking taxes - revenue vs. donation?). Still waiting to see if conference play will bring any additional improvements at FH.

Well, to be positive already, the confirmed travel savings are darn good support financially for the SoCon move.

They continued spending money as if football had never been dropped, plus the added travel expenses -- it's called "redistribution of wealth" in liberal circles.

Also mentioned in the article, the reduction of cell phone allotments, was not well received by members of the athletic department that are expected to be on call at all hours. I know it's likely a significant cost-cutting move, but reducing an employee benefit shouldn't be one of the first things cut.

Why? Are we not paying these people enough to pay for a cell phone?
