You do realize that we were beaten in almost every statistical measure usually used to measure a teams performance today, right?

Team Statistics GSU TXST
First Downs 9 26
Total Offensive Yards 268 439
Passing Yards 41 302
Rushing Yards 227 137
Penalty Yards 7-74 4-41
3rd Downs 4-13 7-17
4th Downs 0-1 0-3
Time Of Possession 27:16 32:44

We were lucky as hell to escape the lone star state with a W.

It was by far the worst game we have played all year... I hope CWF gets the offense firing on all cylinders for Navy and perhaps more importably ULM. Stats aside, our boys still somehow got the job done tonight. Maybe we can use this game as a wake up call and finish this season out strong.
Why is it that because we played you so well you played lousy? Maybe we just knew what to expect and were prepared? If Fran doesn't call an asinine play on 4th and 1 this could have been a different game but it wasn't to be.

If TXST isn't gifted a first down on 3rd and 39, it's also a different - and less competitive - game.

But your point stands. I don't take anything away from the Bobcats. They're a solid team. Plenty of GS's offensive struggles were due to a great TXST defensive effort.

That said, it's a two-way street. Good teams have offenses that pick up defenses and vice-versa. It wasn't the Eagles' night on offense, but their defense kicked all kinds of ass when needed.

Did we watch the same game? We were up 28-10 at one point and TX St was only within 10 points after they did an onside kick and scored a TD.

Fran thought his OL could get a half yard, so no problem with the call to run it up the middle. Does Fran get credit for the onside kick that got Tx St back in the game. Without completing that (19% success rate) GS wins by 10 or more.

TX St defended GS better than anybody else this year. They played hard and physical. Congratulations on a great effort. It is easy to see why they have been on a hot streak.

GS did just enough to win and that is all that matters. They could have let adversity snowball on them but didn't. That's what good teams do.

Don't blame your QB, Cats. Dobson said post game that he broke off his coverage and jumped the route. He took a chance and it paid off. The QB ran the play and went where he should have but there was a defender there that he didn't see who really wasn't supposed to be there. That is an all conference winning play by Dobson.

I thought the TX ST staff had a great game plan defensively and made solid in game adjustments offensively.

The Cats have a good team and they play hard. Best of luck the rest of the way.

As for UL, I don't think I have ever seen a bunch with a bigger case of ***** envy in my life. It is both funny and sad at the same time, but mostly pathetic.

Cajuns just can't handle a new top dog in the neighborhood. We are supposed to be "paying our dues" by sucking in FBS like they did for 30 years.

Based on what? A couple posters on a message board? Is that how you judge fan bases? Because I don't think you want to go there.

In this forum? Absolutely. Every thread about GS getting recognition nationally or the GS game threads wind up getting trolled and hijacked by UL posters. Why wouldn't I think that?

Nah, it is ***** envy, and a real bad case at the that.

A couple posters do it every time, not every poster. Southern has a couple who do the same. Nobody is envy or your button on your fur coat.

It will be OK - I'll make a poster just for you to read I'll put up while we're on national tv at a bowl game and you're at home drinking your Pumpkin Spice Latte and moonshine, preparing to stop being a SoGa fan until next football season.

Good one chief. Don't act like you're getting a bowl game because you outplayed us and deserve it more. That's laughable at best

Let me guess - after football season you put all your Ga So gear in storage and unpack your Georgia and Ga Tech gear for basketball and baseball.

We will have earned any bowl game we go to because our fan base has proven that they will buy tickets, spend money and show up.

Yet to be seen for Ga Southern on the FBS level.

So we'll talk about it again when and if Ga Southern makes one in the near future and the fans can prove they are fans.

But no... You're right. You guys totally aren't getting bent out of shape about Georgia Southern's success.

When I see Fritz, I'll remind him to send a rent check out to Lafayette for the Eagles living in your heads like that.

I'm sure just as many of your fans put on LSU swag seeing as how they are the flagship program on that state.

Excellent smack talk. Because Lafayette has so many more appearances in Omaha than do the Eagles from Georgia Southern University. You do, however, hold the edge in NCAA regional appearances at 14-13. You had an excellent season last year, which is to be applauded. We took games against GA Tech, Clemson, and took two out of three from UGA in Athens. So tell me, why would I EVER put my Georgia Southern gear away during any season? You worry about you, and let us worry about us.

We were lucky as hell to escape the lone star state with a W.

Which was a flip from the previous week in which NMSU steamrolled TxSt for 639 yards ( plus about a hundred called back ) but escaped with the loss.

Damn it!

Why'd they chose points to determine the win instead of yards?

I always enjoyed watching some of the die hard flex formation TO lovers talk about TOP after we lost a game in which we had the greater TOP.
