LOL....i'm aware of that, as are we all. Teams of folks develop the specifics of policy, regardless of the President and his/her political party. The President is a figure head, a people manager, an executive.

I like the guy, but I don't think he is qualified to be president.

In all honesty he would probably make a better VP.

I don't think though that Mormons believe the earth is 6000 years old. I'm waiting to hear Carson answer the questions that will for sure be asked about this. It may well be that he does not subscribe to that tenant of the SDA like I don't subscribe to the "predestination" tenet of the Presbyterian faith that I am a part of. I like the guy. I just need more info about him. He might actually be a better VP candidate than head of the ticket.

Given a choice between someone who thinks the earth is 6000 years old and someone who thinks Obamacare is a good idea, I'd go with the young earther all day long. Clearly as the lesser of two evils, but very much the lesser.

I'm going to wait and hear what the man has to say on the subject before forming my opinion. At this point it would be unfair to him to put words in his mouth.

I'm fine with believers. I doubt though I would vote for a young earther to be the leader of the free world. I am not at this point going to put that label on Dr. Carson. Ill let him address it. He is going to get an opportunity to explain his position if he really runs for POTUS.

But that assumes that an atheist would not push his/her beliefs on you. IMO that's a bad assumption.

"Worked in Education".....He wasn't teaching underwater basket-weaving, he's a retired Pediatric Neurosurgeon. I'm sure you'd agree he could be someone to provide enlightened leadership as we see the implementation of ACA throughout the next few years....

Not when he'd likely do everything in his power to quash it.

Could it be that 'quash'ing it is the appropriate action to take?

Not like he's familiar with the subject or anything....being a Neurosurgeon and all....that's been teaching on the related subject for 'decades'...

Sure, if he's operating on my brain, he's familiar. Health care policy for the country is slightly a different matter.

Yeah, doctors never have to deal with declining reimbursement rates, or endlessly expanding regulatory requirements, or administrative pressures from the hospitals from which they operate...

RE: U cons got your wish
Many doctors aren't 'exceptional' businessmen, which is why they often hire people who are. They certainly know when they are spending more time and energy meeting paperwork requirements and less time and energy treating patients. They certainly know when they are doing more and taking home less, or vice versa.

'health care policy' may well be beyond the capabilities of most physicians, but treating patients is certainly beyond the capability of most politicians (any one who doesn't have medical training).

I find it funny that the same people who don't trust physicians when it comes to healthcare policy, trust politicians when it comes to healthcare.

I haven't met a public atheist yet who wasn't evangelical about their non-religion religion.

I can't think of any president pushing religious beliefs on the public. Seems like pretty much an non -issue really.
