The son of the legendary coach has the backing of Sen. Phil Poole and Gov. Siegelman, but it has been learned that his name will not be on the list submitted to the Senate for confirmation by the incumbent University trustees. Instead all seven of the current members whose terms expire will be re-submitted.

That means that if he is to get a seat, the Senate will have to reject one of the incumbents and substitute Bryant. If it comes to that, look for an ugly fight. There are some trustees and State Senators who do not want Bryant on the board."

Looks like his district is Gordo/Reform/Carrollton. I doubt many people from that area graduate HS or know anyone who went to UAB.

Isn't this the same former Senator Poole that was arrested a while ago while in a fist fight with his brother in a parking lot?

Unfortunately, I doubt his opponent's (Gerald Allen) views on UAB are much rosier.

You won't be able to find it online. It only appears in the print edition published yesterday, 11/3.

If you guys don't remember, he's the one who made comments to the Tuscaloosa News in 2011 during the stadium drama calling UAB fans
whiners. Then when UAB supporters emailed him, he sent back less than polite responses.
