They're trying to make Atlanta their market and this would basically be us making Atlanta our second home. I would love to be able to have a neutral field game against somebody but we're in a weird location for that with no proper opponent to make that viable. Maybe if State takes over the Ted we could do a neutral field game in the new Dome.

Thing is.. "WC" = Who Cares.. what GaSt thinks about it!

They have ZERO say so in it. They Do Not Own The Dome! And they certainly are not the only College team that plays football there.

What are they going to do.. have both of their fans form a protest line outside the stadium?

I think the idea has merit, I do worry about getting our students up there. Imagine if we ran a bunch of busses up there to get the students to the game. I just think they should have a chance to go to all "home" games. Don't want to be like UMass, and I understand we are talking about only one game. But when you are talking about trading a home game in Statesboro, for an away visit the next year then you have to start looking at what we are really losing. Additionally, the economic impact loss of 2?,000 people not being in Statesboro/South east GA on that weekend.

If we do it, it has to be on a year when we play gast in Statesboro.

If we are gone, then so is the Dome....so I really have no problem with GaSo playing in a parking lot.

Beyond that, I don't think "home and home" arrangements with P5 schools are going to be as plentiful in the future.

It will be interesting to see what happens. But I still think even if the P5 wanted to go with not scheduling G5 teams, your low end P5 teams, like Vandy and such will still probably want to schedule us. Will be interesting to see if the teams just decide collectively to do it, or if they put rules in place about it.

No reason to have one in Savannah. Savannah is a tourist town, not a sports town. We can barely keep our minor league baseball team. We are supposedly getting an arena football team, but that won't last more than 2 seasons.

When you consider our share of what we would pay to rent the dome for one game, and that the P5 team may not want to split the revenue 50-50 with us, I seriously doubt it's worth forgoing a paycheck to just play in the P5's stadium.

As I understand it, the game with MTSU in the dome in 1995 was a real loser financially for us.

I agree. I would rather play at home and keep all of the revenue, or play at a P5 for a paycheck, than pay rent and split revenue. As a fan, I would enjoy it for the same reason I enjoy GT and GSU this year...travel is easier for me. Financially for the school, I don't see any incentive to do this.

It would be a home and home setup with our home game at the dome and the second game at the P5 school. It would accomplish the following:

1) Engage the Atlanta alumni which responded with a strong showing vs GT. If we could schedule a solid P5 school, I could see us bringing 15-20k
2) Allow a semi-home game versus a P5 program that would want to recruit in Altanta.
3) Give Ga Southern a better chance to pull off a major upset vs a Big 10 program such Iowa.
4) Continue to build the brand in Atlanta and nationally.

If Our AD is having trouble landing a P5 at home, maybe this is an alternative.

This idea is being discussed. This is one of the reasons good attendance showing at the Tech and State games is so important for us.
