You guys have no idea...I work in an industry where 90% of the people went to Ivy league or some hippie liberal arts bull **** school, and when networking with these people at the conferences the school conversation always come up.

I've had it a few times because I tend to wear AState polos when I'm not in a suit.

Saddest time was at a high school basketball game. Dad working concession stand of the girls game had his hopes up that I was there to scout his son who was an OK lower classification player with a ****** attitude and very undisciplined on the court. I just said no I'm not but I really wanted to say "He's a senior, it's late February. If he hasn't heard from someone before now, he isn't going to."

I've never really gotten that kind of a reaction when I tell people I'm an App fan, but people are always aghast when I talk about how much I hate Carolina, and then go on to explain that I'm not a Duke fan. I literally live on Tobacco Road in Durham County, so I might be the only person in 50 square miles without an allegiance to one or the other.

Being in Alabama, I run into this problem all the time. It irritates me to no end....

I just say hey, you know we're still undefeated against Alabama and Auburn... That usually shuts them up, really quick.

At work there's an Alabama vs Auburn blood drive every year. The raffle winner wins a free Auburn or Alabama jersey, along with other paraphernalia. No Troy, UAB, or USA option available. You're either an Alabama or Auburn fan. I'm glad to not be a part of it. I still give blood though.

A little off topic but made me think of a situation that happened about a month ago. The Compass Bank in Mobile (various locations) were advertising Bama/Auburn check cards. I politely asked the teller if they offered South. The lady went to get a manager who was very nice and said "No but we should offer one for the Jags". Needless to say this still has not happened.

I know the feeling. I work at a high school and I have extended family and friends from high school that teach as well, but they went to that off-maroon school in college station. Then when they try to one-up me about what schools we went to, I respond with that my degree has me doing to the same job you do, but enjoy paying back your 100K in student loans just to say you went to a school with all male cheerleaders. That usually shuts them up.

Four years ago a TV station in Little Rock had a cereal drive and was logging "who you are a fan of". AState folks spread it hard on social media and won the final tally.

They were also doing a truck giveaway associated with the contest and doing a live remote in our suburb. My wife went out because one of the civic clubs wanted bodies there. During one segment one of the two hosts described the truck as "Razorback red" (both hosts were AState grads). Sent a text to my wife "Razorback red? Both those f---ers went to AState". My wife moved up close during a commercial and said "You sure that isn't a Red Wolf Red pick-up?". One host rolled his eyes, the other smiled and said "I do believe it is" and mentioned that it was a pretty AState red pick-up in the next segment.

Last three years it's just been a cereal drive with no contest of who you are a fan of.

My wife works in tourism for the state and travels the country for trade shows trying to promote tourism. Invariably if Arkansas is putting on a talk or segment someone from one of the cities will say "Let's call the Hogs". My wife always puts a stop to it telling them that a lot of people aren't sports fans and won't understand it and it reinforces the backwoods image the state works hard to dimish and if they are sports fans they might not like it because they have their own team they support. This summer she played that card and one of the reps from a city in NW Arkansas said, "I doubt there is anyone from Southern Miss or Samford here to offend but probably plenty from the 9 schools who beat us that might think it was funny."

Tell 'em that you pull for the Georgia Southern Eagles and are not interested in the NFL. They won't even mention other college team after that.

haha. That just reminded me. I have a shirt that is just our eagle head logo, and a hat that on the back strap says "Eagles".... I get people regularly walking past me and saying "Go Eagles!", and then they realize it isn't Philly, and they apologize. lol
