Why? BYU, being an independent was not even considered a candidate for the playoff if they went undefeated. On the other hand Notre Dame would be. That was not even considered a victory over a P5 team.

Its not about P5, its about ranking. They were a top 20 team coming in.

Just pointing it out because we are talking about the same Utah State team that is coming off a loss in Jonesboro two weeks ago. A Utah State win would make the SBC look better.

For the SBC to "look better" is for other Sun Belt schools to win significant OOC teams.

Correct, but if Utah State loses that game and starts to struggle, it would make one of the only wins we have look worse.
