I think every CUSA school is on there, or atleast it seems like it(except they dont like So Miss or FIU). This week Im gonna vote for every crappy team. FIU and Troy to the top!!!

It would be very useful for the G5 to have a decent poll that mattered. Sabotaging the effort seems counter-productive.

I'd suggest that you just join those who are actually trying to vote rationally instead of joining those trying to mess it up.

This one at least has the backing of SB Nation. It's been pretty solid.

Yes this one's much better. They have Utah State receiving more votes than stAte. Makes a lot of sense...01-wingedeagle

RE: Week 5 G5 Top 25 National Football Poll 2014
Hey gang, I would not normally post on the SBC board but I thought this would be a good time to thank and acknowledge my appreciation to those that have participated. The G5 Top 25 Poll is time consuming for all the voters that have assisted. The voters have consistently reviewed each week’s final game scores, results and stats for teams in the TOP 25 as well as other G5 teams.

The results of the poll indicate that the members have taken their responsibility very serious. We have a good number of voters from the five different G5 Conferences including quite a few voters from different SBC teams. I appreciate everyone’s dedication and I truly believe that the voters we have, vote with an analytical comparison for teams from the East to the West. It is not always as easy as it sounds, but our voters have made great comparisons so they can assemble the best Top 25 Ranking.

Just as a comparison I put this together (a side by side listing of the two polls mention in this thread). I am posting this only to open the dialogue for more debate and discussion. I really think at this point all polls are very fluid. As the next few weeks progress it will become easier and certainly the candidates for the Top 25 will narrow.

The only differences were..... also three teams are below the Top 25 in the ORV
The G5 FF poll did not have the following :
NO SJSU NO WMU, NO LA Tech NO BOWLING GREEN

The SB poll did not have the following:
NO SDSU, NO UAB, NO LOUISIANA, NO OHIO

ODU OldTimer, I think you guys are doing a great job with your poll. There is still a degree of favoritism done on your poll (of which you have no control over) but it is still more than most news services do for us. I do find that my rankings more closely resemble SB Nation though.

Not trying to knock you... But you got some math problems on this one.

Now, I'm just using us as an example, but there's others:

Texas State in the SB ranking:30
Texas State in the Fan Forum: 33
Change per your file: Down 2

I don't care who they played, UTSA is still sitting at #23/25 with a 1-3 record. That makes the whole poll void in my opinion.

When I ranked the teams for this week's poll, I flushed everyone (except UCF) with a losing record. I thought UTSA with a 1-3 record was ridiculous. They would have to earn their way back into the poll instead of remaining based upon preseason promise. I have a feeling you'll see Texas State crack the Top 25 this next week with South Alabama just outside on the fringe.

On a current note, I was glad to see Arizona put Oregon in their place. The F_U battle was 03-zzz.

You'd think the G5 HCs would be interested in such a poll getting national mention and reporting as it might raise attention to rising programs and perhaps even get the top couple in discussions of inclusion in the playoffs or expanded playoffs even in an "IF we had 8" debate.

Isn't this the sort of thing Nick Saban wants? We can't give Nick Saban what he wants...

Exactly. Tin Foil Hat time. I think any publications of "G5 top 25" does nothing more than separate ourselves from them. THIS IS WHAT THEY WANT. Next thing you know, people will be suggesting we should have our own post season, and the next step after that is another "reclassification" like in the 70s that officially separates the leagues.

We already lost that battle when we didn't stand up to the P5 over autonomy and call their bluff.

The G5 are already only able to pull off about 15% wins against P5 and it will get worse.

The G5 are now playing for the G5 Access spot which is chosen by a committee of P5 people with no G5 representation. We might as well have some sort of polls to influence that will at least make it harder for the committee to choose a ringer every year.

BYU and ECU would beat plenty of P5 teams. Navy will be out once GS takes them down.
