RE: Basketball Notes
I think a lot of the in-state scheduling troubles center around recruiting. Brady has mentioned that he watches how all the former in-state CAA schools are recruiting and follows the programs. Playing JMU gives the Dukes a chance to recruit against those schools who probably have a conference affiliation/profile advantage now.

On the other hand, VCU, Mason, and ODU probably don't schedule JMU in anything but a buy game now because risking a loss at JMU when the Dukes aren't very good isn't a great proposition for them. Of course that is something Brady won't do for recruiting purposes because it gives those schools added ammunition should the schools ever be recruiting the same players.

Those are just a couple of schools though, there are plenty of good schools you can schedule if you're willing to do the legwork needed to make it happen. Brady's always been good at scheduling well enough to keep his job.

RE: Basketball Notes
There are some good games on the schedule and a couple in the convo including the UVA game which is a great get. However, there are a ton of irrelevant garbage games. VCU, ODU, George Mason were in the same conference with JMU for years. They are ideal OOC games now whether home or away.

Jeff Bourne siad in DNR that he did not want to schedule VCU, ODU, or George Mason because the CAA schedule is so tough already
