And it's colder at night.

Why do we play so many night games?

Yes I'm a traditionalist (old fart) but CFB was meant to be played on Saturday afternoons.

Plus it got really obvious when Franklin wasn't in the game, it was a pass play no matter what.

I agree with you on your first point, Potts. Late in the game (late 3rd or 4th quarter) ZT threw two quick long passes to get us down field. Seems as soon as we were in the red zone, changed tactics and gave it to Franklin to run up the middle. SMH. Not once, but twice - on a play that rarely worked all night. Would think we ride the horses that got us there (ZT and the receivers). We then throw an incompletion on third down and have to settle for a FG try.

We so desperately needed a TD at that point to take control.

If WMU would have went up by 10, Toledo wasn't coming back. We could only ride Swanson for so long before having to throw the ball.

Personally, I enjoy the night games because of the environment and it allows for more tailgating time. 04-rock

I agree Hoople. I don't mind CommUniverCity night, but after that prefer they stick with day games.

No start time posted for homecoming yet. I'm really hoping for an early start. Kalamazoo Speedway has a big racing weekend then with races starting at 4:00 pm on Saturday, and the kids are already registered. With an early start I can at least catch some of the game.

You mean all 5,000 of us??? I don't mind early season night games but it gets a little skechy this time of year. I didn't like night games as a player because there was so much time to kill before the game. I liked getting up, eating, meeting, and then going right to the field. I felt like we ended up laying around too much. As a fan, I don't mind starting to tailgate at 9 am and then being home by 4. Yesterday was a loss and too bad because it might have been our biggest home game of the season if the weather was decent.

As far as talking about the game itself? There is no middle ground anymore, you are either all in rowing the boat or your not. Yesterday Toledo did everything they could to give us that game. We didn't take advantage of it. Now we go on the road to ball state and find out if we can win a MAC West game or not. We have talent, now we just have to put it together and finish a game. Every WMU coach should be judged on how they do in the MAC. We still have 7 more games to judge and none of them are going to be easy.

A small side note. Did anyone notice in the program that it showed that WMU leads the all time series with UT 41-28? A little revisionist history on the part of the athletic department because in reality it is the other way around.

Sloppy of the athletic department to get it wrong.

Like I said earlier...I have heard from some players that he misses in practice all the time. Have you ever seen a kickers practice? That is all they do is kick.

actually they rarely kick. Most are helping other position like db's throwing the football. You can only kick so much. If you really saw what kickers do at practice it is kind of pathetic and much like a game. Stand around for a long time then have to convert when the time comes.

You are right, I should have explained myself better. Kick in practice when the coach calls him in to practice special teams etc, stretch, twirl the ball around, talk, do some more stretching, maybe run a bit or ride the bike. Sorry. But, like I said when he does kick in practice...I have heard from guys on the team that he misses.

If Fleck is going to stick with him because he doesn't want to ruin his confidence...ok, but that only goes so far. If he continues leaving points out there, costing us wins, then he has to find another kicker to do what's best for the FAMILY.

Until Scanlon can get enough lift on his kicks, I doubt Fleck will make a change.

So then I guess we should be going hard after a young kicker. How about right here in West MI we have the kicker from EGR and then we have the kid from Rockford who I know has been down as a recruit. Word is that the kid from Rockford is good enough to play in SEC.

I'd be surprised if we didn't use a scholarship on a place kicker in the 2015 class, knowing that this will be another 25-member group in all likelihood.

RE: The official broncos vs toledo gamethread!!!
I didn't see the game, only caught updates. So I didn't catch UT's final drive to tie it up in regulation or read up on how it happened.

But I hope this wasn't one of those cases we see time after time in the football world: Team with the narrow lead and couple minutes left needs one. more. stop. So they tense up, play "prevent," give WRs a 5-yard cushion and the light pass rush gives the QB all day to throw.

The missed PAT was heartbreaking, of course. But all in all, it wouldn't have been a game-winner, it would've just led to another overtime. For that reason alone, the pain doesn't rank up there with endings like the Akron punt return.

And as others have mentioned, ditch the night games aside from CommUniversity.

Yeah, I know it's hindsight and all, but as a home team and the underdog coupled with our kicking issues, I would've understood going for 2 points.

I even understood why UMass went for it against us last season. It failed, but I don't think it was that bad a call.
