Personally, I'll crow about out team where and when I want. I'm damn proud of our showing so far this year. You know what pisses me off? Every post you make on this board is apologetic ass kissing of the Sun Belt old timers and it's lame as hell. I'm glad you're not on GSUFans.

Say what you will. I am proud of my team as well but I don't have to rub everyone else's nose in it like some drunken frat boy like you and a few others. I try to bring an intelligent perspective of Georgia Southern to this board while TRYING being civil (look how that worked out-25% warning level). I just hope others can see there is a difference in the GS posters. Not all of us are jerks!

I will concede that Georgia Southern has AState beat soundly in one area. The group of fans here have done more strutting and preening that AState fans managed with three championships.

Nothing wrong with being proud of the team, however, there's still a lot of season left and plenty of opportunity for things to fall apart

Be careful what you say because you know it will be thrown back on you in a heartbeat and you'll have no ground to stand on.

I know that Erk would have said we were lucky to make it past a very good App State team last night.

Wow. Must be nice to own a brush large enough to paint a whole state in one swath.

Way too early to declare that. But you do have an unusually light schedule ahead.
I think I am glad we don't have to face Ga So and their offense. Anyone who wins the league this year will have earned it.

I think we are seeing some value of having a 12th team and a championship game. If it isn't a money lose then it makes sense to me.

I am on GSUFANS! The fact is I rarely go there anymore because it's like being in a room full of guys continually slapping themselves on the back and (some, not all) running down other teams. It's about as boring as being on Facebook (I just bought a Coke Zero...raise the roof!!!).

Easily already in the top of the sun belt.
I guess you haven't noticed ODU or UTSA's success in CUSA out of the gate and those were a new program and one without the history of GS or APP. Truth is that any of the top tier FCS programs can be competitive in any of the G5 conferences fairly quickly. They won't win championships as often but they can compete with the extra scholarships. Heck, it wouldn't be difficult to enter the P5 leagues and be as good as their bottom half in most of those leagues.

I watched the game last night and all I can say is I'm glad UAB isn't playing you this year.

You know, that's exactly what Furman said before we joined the Socon... The last time they won a Socon championship that they didn't share with GS was before GS joined the Socon.

If Furman had a quarter of the facilities we do...that point might be worth something.

By the way, get some temporary lighting in for the next television game. Looked like the game was played during a black out.
We do that on purpose, it's easier to run than throw in the dark. Our field also has an "unusual" crown that helps us run "downhill" on the option and makes teams throwing to the sidelines and the back of the endzone overthrow receivers, and oh yeah the Eagle Creek Water helps too.

RE: Nice showing on national TV tonight, guys!
My take....

App State isn't an overly good team right now but I do think their season is salvageable. They improved a good bit over the course of last season and I think they will do it again. They are certainly better than they were early season last year. Satterfield is a young and inexperienced HC and I think he is learning and getting better.

Lamb looks good for a guy in his second (?) start...he'll get better. He might be playing with the least talented group of receivers App State has had in a while, though that isn't saying much.

Bottom line....we beat a team that has had our number for a while now. No need to beat our chests or hang our heads over the game. Onward to New Mexico State...

App will win a few games, but their schedule is unforgiving. Even if they start playing better in November, they face trips to Lafayette and Jonesboro that certainly won't be easy.

Sky is the limit for GS, but it wouldn't shock me if someone like a Texas State or ULM took them down later in the year as injuries and attrition come more into focus.

It will be thrown up regardless. Most all of these threads start with some baiting post. How many threads actually get started by gs fans bragging?
Besides it's the same thing every week. It's only the first game. It's only the second game. Well five games in and we've beaten two sbc teams by three touchdowns and our two losses are by 5 points to two undefeated acc teams. I'll enjoy our success.

Is GaSouthern eligible to compete this year in a bowl game or is it one of those wait a year or two deals? I'd love to see the Eagles representing the Belt in a bowl game.

When USA came to town the first time we thought of them as FCS and had a very difficult time of it. The same can happen again if someone overlooks someone else.

Indeed. The one sure thing in the Belt is that there is no sure thing.

They are not bowl eligible, and no matter what some Eagles fans say, they are not getting a waiver.
